What are your thoughts on Disney's Animal Kingdom?

When I first heard I was going to Animal Kingdom to work, I looked up the park hours to see if there was a chance to get overtime hours and work more. Do you ever visit the other resorts when you visit?

This one night I was walking with some friends around Yacht and Beach after getting some ice cream and had some time before I had to get home. So I decided to look for new areas to photograph. I stepped into the Conference building between the two resorts and was taken aback by the colors and how that normal guests that come to the parks never see this. I doubt many of the guests of the resorts even see this. Those that have had some sort of conference here have been fortunate enough, but that limits the numbers that have stepped foot here. I love this place. I have a series of photos that I had to get and will be posting them all in time.

The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is a 2,111-capacity theatre in Dublin, Ireland which opened on 18 March 2010. Designed by Daniel Libeskind of New York and RHWL Architects of London, it is located in the Grand Canal Dock area and the concept of the theatre was created by Mike Adamson of Live Nation and the Docklands Development Authority as a touring theatre for Ballet, Opera, Musicals and Concerts.

It was officially opened with a performance of Swan Lake by the Russian State Ballet of Siberia. It is the largest theatre in Ireland and is designed to present theatrical productions that were previously unable to visit Ireland. The acoustic, theatre technical systems, structural and building services designs were by Arup. Chartered Land were the developers and funders of the theatre and Harry Crosbie is the lease holder.

The theatre complements the larger 14,000-capacity concert venue the 3Arena, which is located across the River Liffey to the north.

The building was opened as the Grand Canal Theatre, but was renamed during March 2012 as part of a naming rights agreement with Bord Gáis Energy worth a reported €4.5 million.[citation needed] It will have this name until 2018 at least. Bord Gáis is Irish for Gas Board.

This tiny two-roomed building, built of brick in 1936, is claimed to be the smallest free-standing post office in Wales. It was built by Evan Isaac, a local stonemason, and his cousin David Williams, a carpenter, and was run by Mr Isaac's daughter and her husband, who also operated the village pub, which stood across the road. The mail was delivered from Whitland, the local town, and was sorted here by Mrs Beatrice Griffiths who would then deliver it by bicycle to the surrounding farms and cottages, a journey of eight miles every day. The post office counter was located in the main room, whilst the second room (with fireplace) served as a wireless repair workshop. The business was moved to a nearby bungalow in 1963 and the building was moved to the museum in 1992 where it has been refurbished as it would have looked during the Second World War.

Inspired by so many others who have taken the same shot. My sis actually took a shot which was pretty amazing. I had to go one better, or at least match the awesomeness of the night scene.

About the shot

I didn't have my Manfrotto with me, but I did have a Gorrillapod (so indispensable). Taken with a Canon 10-22mm lens at 10mm mounted on a Gorrillapod draped over the railing. Post processed in Photomatix (didn't bother to mask the halos) and a touch of Topaz to round if off. Adjusted contrast and definition in Aperture 2.0.

I love night skylines - they always inspire and they are just so vibrant and awesome. My trick to an awesome HDR? ISO 100. always ISO 100.

One of the places I go every time I come to Animal Kingdom is the Harambe Theatre to see the Festival of the Lion King. I love this show and it makes me feel so good after. The night after we arrived, a freak winter tropical system bombarded the island with sustained winds over 60 MPH and gusts over 100 MPH. While driving around the island when this storm was making landfall wasn't ideal, we made it back to our hotel before the worst started. The morning after, the seas were angry, and the sky was clearing up... but not before providing me a good opportunity to get a pretty awesome HDR shot.
