Where there is awareness there is hope .
When I was 17 years old my whole world was shattered because my
dear Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctor told her
she had come just in time and that if she had waited just 6 more months
it could have been too late to help her. My Mother endured chemotherapy,
and radiotherapy. She lost her hair, self-confidence and her left breast.
It is because of this very traumatic chapter in my life that I am today a nurse
at Stavanger University Hospital, Norway.
Cancer is a heavy and huge diagnosis for a patient and their family to accept.
There are a couple of big problems, in my opinion, that largely affect many people adversely. The first, as I see it, is the small number of Prevention Campaigns there are. More of these campaigns could educate and push people to use the methods and take the time to self-check themselves routinely. In many cases patients with various types of cancer the time and experience of the treatments can be fairly easy and effective if they are diagnosed in time. Another problem area I see is that
people wait too long to seek medical attention and then they must face the trauma when it's too late. I would also like to point out that it is a misconception that men do not develop breast cancer when in fact, men are equally confronted with it. It is unclear why this subject remains somewhat "taboo" still to today.
I am representing 2 organizations with this challenge. They are Breast Cancer Prevention (www.cancer.org) and Cherries On Top (shop.cherriesontop.org/). Cherries On Top is a globally targeted fund raising organization for research support and information campaigns in all types of cancer that affects Kids, Men and Women. I would like to plan an event to benefit both of these great causes. My plan on how to make this happen would involve friends of mine that are Second Life Voice Entertainers,
DJs, Designers, Agency Owners, Bloggers, and Models. Anyone and everyone I can ask to help I would try to secure for to make charity concerts, shows and other ideas that may come to mind. If these things can save someone's life it's worth whatever it takes to make it happen.
I was scouting out some vantage points at Ocean beach today when I saw someone sitting very very still for long periods of time out by the water. The marine layer was kind of blah today, but the sound of the surf and the sight of the huge rocks in the distance made for a very entrancing scene, so I can understand why someone would choose to meditate in this setting.
All comments, critiques and feedback both positive and negative welcome.

On Saturdays I like to go for a meditation class at the Upper House at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. The house is usually closed to the public. We were waiting for the teacher, fully aware of the surroundings.
I processed a balanced HDR photos from three RAW exposures, and carefully adjusted the curves, color balance, and perspective.

It is as though this Great Egret was seeing its own reflection for the first time. I thought this shot would make a fun exercise in processing. Have a safe and fun 4th.
It is bitterly cold outside, and I took few photos inside. Now I used Topcor UV 50/2 for few days and
my impression about this lens changed a bit. If lighting is good, ISO low and I do not focus on things that are closer to the edge than the centre of the image, it is sharp even wide open. At least sharp enough for bokeh or portrait photography.
You just never know where the FBI will turn up, or what mode of transport they'll use.
Another grab shot of something that made me laugh:)

Coastal Brown Bear (Ursus arctos), last year's cub, is going to be a big bear if he makes it. Staying aware of his surroundings, like he is doing here, is essential to his survival. When he spotted a large bear taking over his mother's fishing spot, he moved on - quickly. Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.
With over 3 million women battling breast cancer today, everywhere you turn there is a mother, daughter, sister, or friend who has been affected by breast cancer.

Early detection is so important. Remind someone you love to get tested!
Feel free to tag yourself if you've been affected ~

One more day and it's the weekend :)
As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.

Thieves know to beware of other thieves. "Thieves" and "gulls" are words which might as well be used interchangeably. Swallow your prize quickly or it'll get swiped. The gull frantically swallowing the fish mid-flight knows it'd be chasing the other gull if roles were reversed.
Happy I'm not addicted to look down in my phone when I'm out walking 😄 if so, this view would not have been captured.
Small joys ❤️
I met these 2 kids yesterday, just a quick shot. The glance of the girl struck me, she is so aware of herself being photographed. It made me think about the amount of self-consciousness of a child
After reading this weeks post secrets suicide/depression has been on my mind a lot.
soundcloud.com/eflore7/lyla-1 Voicemail that some guys girlfriend left him. It breaks my heart </3
I know people don't like to talk or think about things like this but it's something that needs to be addressed in our society.
Having lost someone to suicide myself I think it's so so important to have someone you can talk to, anyone. Don't be afraid to call someone.
I ran out of parts to finish this to the level I'd of liked. Ah well. But there are plenty of aspects I'm rather pleased with which will be carried on to the next version. Yes, there will be a next version! :D
And before anyone says it, I am aware the legs are totally messed up. I'm going to fully replace the legs and the arms (which can barely handle the weight of the rifle) on the next version. This was a good lesson in that it highlighted all the problems with larger mecha of which this is my first. Namely joints. I see joints in my nightmares now and I'm terrified. D:
Fig fits in to the pod on the back which also features a rather spanky opening hatch. Also very pleased with the waist assembly.
This is my art installation for ONE BILLION RISING, a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. It is an one-day-only event that is happening on Feb 14, 2019, the seventh year where men and women in Second Life will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and people across the world to Rise, Resist and Unite as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change.

My Artist Statement:
My artwork for One Billion Rising tries to capture the moment when a person who has endured rape, sexual abuse, or violence of any kind finally breaks free of the pain that they've experienced, be it physical or emotional. The rising hand-drawn particles of women floating up is a literal interpretation of "one billion rising", as they join in the collective celebration to end the abuse and suffering, rising from the darkness of their painful past. I made each particle to be scaled to our human size so that they are more relatable, and visitors could feel that they are a part of the collective.
I really wanted to give the feeling that pain or abuse - represented by black splotches in the background and on the 3D hand sculptures - doesn't have to last. This is especially expressed in the animated textures on some of the hands, representing change. As we grow as individuals, the pain that has been brought on us takes on a different form, one that can unite us to become stronger than who we used to be.

When I became aware he knew I was taking his picture. He didn't seem happy about it. Luckily it was a long lens and I had an escape route.
• She sits on the edge of maybe,
where dreams drift off and just begin.
No map, no compass in her hand,
but still the courage to stand still.
She softly says, “I do not know,”
and that is all she has to show.
But in that quiet, open name,
there lies a truth without a claim.
She is no riddle to be solved,
no path that must be clearly drawn —
but a story growing gently still,
in doubt, in hope, in morning’s dawn.
As always, a huge thanks to those who stop by to view, fave and or comment! It is truly appreciated... 🙏 ❤️
Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of daily life. To be mindful is to be truly alive and present with those around you and with what you are doing. We bring our body and mind into harmony while we wash the dishes, drive the car or take our morning cup of tea.
