AVERAGE ICONS -- animated projection show controlled by the weather

via Instagram ift.tt/1OtnbdU One more. Because #cats. This is an average night for me. #Cleo snuggled up to my leg as close to my hips as possible (stealing warmth) and #Isis standing guard/ snuggling guard at my feet.
This was to achieve your 'standard' film look. Nothing too fancy, but it's been split toned a greenish yellow. I kept the saturation up on this.
Aspect ratio is 2.35:1 for this shot.
Turning average (at best) pre-made frozen pizza into a big delicious meal:
1. Add more tomato sauce base (any pasta sauce type will do)
2. Add cheese to that.
3. Finely slice eggplant, layer on top of the sauce.
4. Small layer of cheese.
5. Slice zucchini and capsicum, add on top.
6. Layer of cheese and sauce again to coat the vegetables (and hold them in place)
7. In the oven, and add fetta cheese late (so it doesnt lose all its flavour).
8. A bit of basil and rosemary on top.

Xi Orionis.
An average of 8 frames from a video taken with a SAC-IV QuickCam based CCD camera mounted on a 203.2mm f/6.3 Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with a Meade Series 4000 x2 barlow at 9:38 PM on January 11, 2003 in New York, NY. Xi Orionis (70 Orionis, SAO95362) is a triple star with magnitudes of 4.5 and 12.4? and a separation of 40.0 arc seconds. A dark frame was subtracted from each of the frames and they were aligned and averaged using Keith's Image Staker on my 600MHz iBook.
On average, cars in Switzerland are about half the size they are in the US, because gas is so expensive (and maybe because they care about the global ecology???). So, to celebrate their wedding, these folks dragged out this old Eldorado, dating back to (I think) 1973. As they drove slowly by, big grins on their faces and honking their horns like the war just ended, this one vehicle seemed like a huge parade float. And it's a coupe, no less!

Disaster Responders Training
The Philippines is one of the most disaster prone countries with an average of 25 typhoons that pass on our country that brought devastation and havoc.
With the start of the rainy season and the recent incident in Metro Manila and other Luzon provinces that were affected by the heavy downpour of rainwater that resulted to catastrophic floods and landslides, there is an urgent need to train a group or individuals the basics of disaster response in order to lessen casualties and minimize losses.
In Metro Cebu, heavy downpour of rains will result to flashfloods and landslides especially in the mountain barangays. In other regions, there are numerous fault lines and active volcanoes that may trigger a powerful earthquake and volcanic eruptions anytime and may dislocate the lives of populace and tremendous damage to properties.
With these, the Trainers of 8th Marine Brigade and 82nd Marine Battalion with their Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HA/DR) Equipment’s is conducting a four (4) day Disaster Emergency Assistance and Rescue Training (DEART) to two hundred fifty (250) NROTC cadets of the University of Cebu Maritime Education and Training Center 504th NROTC Unit, Alumnos, Mambaling, Cebu City. These cadets are grouped into 30 per training session and conducted during weekends.
After completing their Basic NROTC Training, they will be enlisted and incorporated to 8th Marine Brigade and 82nd Marine Battalion and during emergency situations; they will be activated as disaster responders. This training activity is done every semester in order to maximize the number of personnel who are highly skilled and knowledgeable in Disaster Response Operations.
This pumpkin was slightly larger than the average pumpkin (see pony for scale).
They had a contest to guess the weight. I never heard the final weight, but in retrospect I think our guess was probably too low.

The osprey is one of the most widespread birds of prey and can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
Ospreys are superb fishers and indeed eat little else—fish make up some 99 percent of their diet. Because of this appetite, these birds can be found near ponds, rivers, lakes, and coastal waterways around the world. Ospreys hunt by diving to the water's surface from some 30 to 100 feet (9 to 30 meters) up. They have gripping pads on their feet to help them pluck fish from the water with their curved claws and carry them for great distances. In flight, ospreys will orient the fish headfirst to ease wind resistance.
Ospreys are sometimes confused with bald eagles, but can be identified by their white underparts. Their white heads also have a distinctive black eyestripe that goes down the side of their faces. Eagles and ospreys frequent similar habitats and sometimes battle for food. Eagles often force osprey to drop fish that they have caught and steal them in midair.
Human habitat is sometimes an aid to the osprey. The birds happily build large stick-and-sod nests on telephone poles, channel markers, and other such locations. Artificial nesting platforms are common in areas where preservationists are working to reestablish the birds. North American osprey populations became endangered in the 1950s due to chemical pollutants such as DDT, which thinned their eggshells and hampered reproduction. Ospreys have rebounded significantly in recent decades, though they remain scarce in some locales.
Most ospreys are migratory birds that breed in the north and migrate south for the winter. They lay eggs (typically three), which both parents help to incubate. Osprey eggs don't hatch all at once, but are staggered in time so that some siblings are older and more dominant. When food is scarce these stronger birds may take it all and leave their siblings to starve.
