The whole city is totally original and medieval. On most streets, you can touch both walls with your hands
The Harlequin Ladybirds is larger than the average ladybird, and readily hunts and kills its British cousins.. Added to that, there is a vast range of other insects that this new and incredibly abundant predator can and will feed on. Its advance is bad news.
It was only a matter of time before the harlequin travelled the short hop across the channel. It made that jump in the summer of 2003. The first reports, says Helen Roy of the Biological Records Centre, came from south-east England. The beetle then colonised Britain at a truly remarkable rate. Thanks to 60,000 records submitted by the public to the UK Ladybird Survey web-site.

Napoleon's throne - amazing someone with a blue throne could command so much respect and had so much power
I made the picture black and white. I used a gaussian blur and erased her and the supplies she was using. I used the wooden wall texture and made the opacity somewhat low. Finally, I vignetted the photo.
A below-average season for bluebonnets in Texas. Possibly the effects of La Nina at work again. The previous shots in Old Baylor College Park were probably the best of the bluebonnets for the season in South Texas.

The osprey is one of the most widespread birds of prey and can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
Ospreys are superb fishers and indeed eat little else—fish make up some 99 percent of their diet. Because of this appetite, these birds can be found near ponds, rivers, lakes, and coastal waterways around the world. Ospreys hunt by diving to the water's surface from some 30 to 100 feet (9 to 30 meters) up. They have gripping pads on their feet to help them pluck fish from the water with their curved claws and carry them for great distances. In flight, ospreys will orient the fish headfirst to ease wind resistance.
Ospreys are sometimes confused with bald eagles, but can be identified by their white underparts. Their white heads also have a distinctive black eyestripe that goes down the side of their faces. Eagles and ospreys frequent similar habitats and sometimes battle for food. Eagles often force osprey to drop fish that they have caught and steal them in midair.
Human habitat is sometimes an aid to the osprey. The birds happily build large stick-and-sod nests on telephone poles, channel markers, and other such locations. Artificial nesting platforms are common in areas where preservationists are working to reestablish the birds. North American osprey populations became endangered in the 1950s due to chemical pollutants such as DDT, which thinned their eggshells and hampered reproduction. Ospreys have rebounded significantly in recent decades, though they remain scarce in some locales.
Most ospreys are migratory birds that breed in the north and migrate south for the winter. They lay eggs (typically three), which both parents help to incubate. Osprey eggs don't hatch all at once, but are staggered in time so that some siblings are older and more dominant. When food is scarce these stronger birds may take it all and leave their siblings to starve.
The average life span of an adult butterfly is one to two weeks. It can also be as short as two days or as long as a year. A butterfly comes from a Chrysalis or pupa. The leaves of my rosal (gardenia) and calamansi plants can sometimes get infested by these things that resemble tiny leathery pouches.
Basically, these flying insects go through a four-stage life cycle: an adult butterfly lays an egg on a leaf on my rosal or calamansi plant; the egg then hatches and out comes a caterpillar or larva; the caterpillar then forms the chrysalis or pupa; finally, the chrysalis matures into a beautiful butterfly, flies around and drives the cat batty that’s trying to catch it.

On an average, these feathered friends are fed around 300kg of grains per day by brothers Vijay Raj and Bhim Raj from Sowcarpet.Bhim says, "It is a collective effort. It costs around 8,000 daily. We never ask. Once people know we are feeding birds and animals, they make voluntary contributions."
Hats off to these guys
