K.Marinović - Color Avalanche

Here is something very colorful for the Valentine´s Day! This one is called "Color Avalanche". It´s a lot different than most of my shots as they are always much darker. But this one is just colorful and makes you happy. Valentine´s Day is all about love and happiness, right?

What do you think of it?

Wish you and your loved ones a happy Valentine´s Day!

Avalanche Peak

New Zealand

During our time in Arthur's pass, we tried to involve Charlotte with as many walks as possible. I would not dream of taking her up to Avalanche peak on the child carrier though. It's a tough enough slog uphill for 2 hours but the final ridge is very exposed with steep dropoffs either side and on days like the one I chose to go up, visibility is often poor. I was so excited to get this window of visibility for all but a few minutes before it all covered up again. ps. if someone knows, could you tell me if I was actually standing on Avalanche Peak or just photographing it - in the white up there, I never found a marker as such lol

Avalanche Lake is located in Glacier National Park, in the U. S. state of Montana. Avalanche Lake is southwest of Bearhat Mountain and receives meltwater from Sperry Glacier.Avalanche Lake is a 2 miles (3.2 km) hike from the trailhead along the Trail of the Cedars.

The avalanche coming down the Eastern face of Titlis (3228m) was not extremely big and did not cause any discernible damage. But it made a rather impressive rumble nonetheless.

In the period from March 1 - 7 there were 346 known avalanches in Colorado due to a much above average snow pack. I-70 near Vail Pass was shut down for 12 hours one day this past week as was State highway 91 where four cars were buried by 15 feet of snow. Miraculously, no one was seriously hurt. We traveled that very road the day before.

A beautiful place to visit if you're ever in Glacier National Park. Its about aa five mile round trip hike with a little elevation gain but well worth the effort.

We spotted a grizzly with a cub on up in the snow on the far side of the lake on this windy afternoon.

Got to spend my birthday weekend in Glacier National Park and had the time of my life. Shooting wise the conditions weren't ideal but the scenery was gorgeous. Walter and I did the tourist thang and stopped at every pull out and took our cheesy pictures. We ran into Alan Chan, Willie Huang and Aaron M this morning. It started dumping rain which made the rocks real slick and limited your choice of comps but I'm happy with what I got.

Once I start writing indexcard, I can't stop writing sometimes. I call it 'avalanche writing'.

For this shot BIGGER is BETTER.

So here is a large view on black; or you might also want to have a look at the winding high alpine road on the "twice as big" view. Can you spot the two tunnels on the left?

This gorgeous, glacier-fed lake feeds into Avalanche Creek which cascades through the Trail of the Cedars on its way to McDonald Creek and Lake McDonald.

Avalanche Peak, during the Kalindi Khal Trek in the Garhwal Himal, Uttarakhand, India.

First climbed by the legendary Eric Shipton & Frank Smythe in 1930 it got its name because the two climbers almost lost their lives while descending after making the first ascent and were lucky to get away alive.

Avalanche Peak seen from the summit of Hoyt Peak. The route up Hoyt goes along the foreground ridge, and starts at the saddle between the two peaks.

This shot was taken near Red Pine Lake. I like the small avalanche on the face of this massive snowy wall. Conversely, the mountain seems to defy gravity as it reaches for the sky.

The 45 foot Avalanche Falls is located at the Flume Gorge area of Franconia Notch State Park, in the town of Lincoln, New Hampshire. The source of the falls is Flume Brook, which runs off of Mt. Flume. The falls is accessed by Flume Path, which becomes a boardwalk as it enters the 800 foot long Flume Gorge. The walls of Conway granite through the gorge rise to heights of 70 to 90 feet, with the width of the gorge varying from 12 feet to 20 feet. Avalanche Falls is located near the far end of the gorge.

If you continue on to the end of Flume Path, it is recommended to turn onto Ridge Path, which loops back to the parking area. The total hike along the loop is a relatively easy 2 miles. Along Ridge Path, highlights include Liberty Gorge Cascade and the Sentinel Pine Covered Bridge.

A new avalanche chute was carved on the side of Peak 1 in the Tenmile Range above Frisco, Colorado. A season of severe winter storms producing heavy snow has caused avalanches of historic proportions all around the state.

An intimate image from Avalanche Lake. I was digging the mirror like reflection and rocks along the shoreline. Thanks for having a look and leaving a comment!

Yes, they do occur here in this province. And they have been known to be deadly. I've seen evidence of small ones such as this on the Annieopsquotch Mountains off Route 480. Small is a relative term, I suppose, as I still wouldn't want to have been down below when this gave way.
