What's interesting/unusual about this Rover 45?

Identified by the slightly higher than normal registration plate mounting, this is the rarer 2.0 V6 model.

I see this quite regularly. It's owned by an older man (of course), and has only done 44k miles as of it's latest MOT a month ago.

The elderly lady that got out of the car was surprised by our enthusiasm.

Norddeutsche Automobil und Motoren GmbH (English: North German Automobile and Engine) was a German brand created in 1908 and was owned by the Norddeutsche Lloyd shipping company. The factory was in Bremen. Many of the products of the company and its successors were badged with the Lloyd marque.

The German Lloyd had no connection with the British Lloyd Cars Ltd company active between 1936 and 1951.

'Here was something really special. For several years in the 1970s, the amazing Stratos was quite simply the best, most successful and most beautiful rally car in the world. It was the ultimate mid-engined/rear-drive package, and really the world's first purpose-designed rally car.' – Graham Robson, 'A-Z of Works Rally Cars'.

This stunning example of a supremely successful competition car from one of the most distinguished marques in automotive history was first registered in Austria on 17th April 1977. In 2001 the Stratos was imported into the UK, remaining with its new owner for the next 13 years before changing hands in 2014. The accompanying V5C registration document confirms two keepers in the UK.

Lancia specialists, Walker's Garage Ltd, have overseen this car's complete and thorough restoration, which included a full repaint by The Classic Car Workshop in 2015. As a result, the bodywork presents as new, with freshly applied Stratos and Bertone decals. All trim pieces appear as new, while the window louvres, roof spoiler, and boot spoiler are likewise in excellent condition. Body panel numbers are still visible, and there are no signs of any damage to either the front or rear panels. Recently refurbished, the original Campagnolo 14" alloy wheels are finished in striking gold paint and retained by the correct domed wheel nuts. Walker's Garage fitted a set of new Michelin XWX tyres in 2015, and also replaced the brake lines and master cylinder.

Boasting a lovely patina of age, the interior remains in very good condition. The dashboard, headlining, and fawn suede seats are original and show few signs of wear, while the instruments and switch gear are all correct and operating properly. Klippan safety harnesses are fitted, and the interior is also equipped with a heater.

In 2015, the present owner commissioned Walker's Garage to carry out a full inspection and rectify any issues that were discovered. The resulting works included fitting new hoses and brake and clutch lines; refurbishing the air box, header tank and suspension: oil and filter replacement; fitting a new ignition system and sports coil; changing the gearbox oil and replacing seals; installing bespoke stainless steel silencers and pipes; and carrying out a rolling-road test and carburettor tune. Walker's bill for over £ 14.000 (approximately € 16.450) is on file and this quite exceptional Stratos also comes with its original Austrian ownership documents (confirming matching numbers) and the aforementioned UK V5C.

Definitely the most complicated Ferrari ever made, the plug-in hybrid model is able to hold a drift with ease thanks to a plethora of settings and clever software assistance. The SF90 Stradale has electric steering and brake-by-wire technology. Turning off the electronic nannies makes the car a bit of a handful, which goes to show that Ferrari had put technology before the driver when it developed this gorgeous land missile.

The extremely handsome, one off coachbuilt Bugatti presented here is accredited by Bugatti experts to be a collaboration of its original owner with the Swiss coachbuilder Graber who were one of the leading Swiss coachbuilders of their day.

Most of Graber's 50 workers were skilled specialists, and the firm regularly displayed their latest creations on their stand at the Geneva Salon. It could be said that they were less flashy than some of the French coachbuilders, less advanced than certain Italian efforts but they were definitely of higher quality than most and displaying the well-balanced design preferred by their wealthy clientele. The success of Hermann Graber's company may be judged by the fact that it perpetuated comfortably into the 1970s, long after many of its pre-war contemporaries had ceased.

According to information supplied by Bugattiste Kees Jansen, 57443 was completed by the Bugatti Works in September 1936 and was sold in chassis form to the Bucar Bugatti agency, who had operations in both Berlin and Zurich. This particular order was for the Grob Agency in the Zurich Canton of Horgen. 57443 is one of a handful of Type 57s that were supplied at this time all with chassis numbers in close proximity of each other, notably, 57444, 57446 and 57447. 57443, 57444 and 57447 were all to be equipped with coachwork by Graber. Jansen's records state that the rolling chassis was driven over 150km to Hermann Graber's coachbuilding works on September 21, 1936.

The car's original owner is said to have been an architect and was therefore responsible for the design, while the coachbuilder was for its construction. A number of its features including the hood louver treatment are common with other Graber bodies.

The result was a dramatically different automobile to the factory offered Pillarless sedan, which was arguably a victim of practicality over style. The car here is a clever, set-back, close-coupled design retaining the popular scalloped side panels synonymous with Bugattis, and dispensing with running boards to accentuate separate 'teardrop' or pontoon fenders. It is unquestionably a success, and it is perhaps only at second glance that one notices the presence of the secondary door. With the spare tire set at the back of the car, the full design of its side from its quarter-batched hood louvers backward is uncompromised, always a sporting styling touch. Another particular feature which is rather interesting are the long 'eared' wheel hub spinners, which it is said were to make wheel removal easier for a lady owner early in its career.

By 1960, the Type 57 was the property of Dieter Marx of Basel, and it was there that it was spotted by well known Dutch Bugatti dealer Bart Loyens, using one of the many connections he had forged as a student in Switzerland. The car had apparently been laid up following an engine failure, allowing Loyens to acquire it for a relatively favorable SWF500. He would bring it to the Netherlands and it would remain in Dutch ownership for the next 48 years.

Arriving in Holland 57443 was stored in warehouse space he used of the America-Holland Shipping Line, but it was not long before it passed onto the Dutch Bugatti Agent Albatros, owned by the van Ramhorst brothers. At this point, the 'broken' engine was replaced by another correct contemporary Type 57 unit, being over-stamped with the car's chassis number. (Today its original engine is in America having been fitted to Jim Hull's remarkable recreation of the 'Torpedo Competition' completed and debuted in the last few years.)

After brief sojourn out of the country, while in the custody of Dutchman Gies Pluim came to an end when his wife decided that they didn't need more than one Bugatti (already owning #43198) the car then passed to Hans Sauerbrier in November 1962 where it would remain until 2008. In Sauerbrier's custody the Bugatti was well maintained, and received an engine rebuild with new block in the 1980s, with the work being carried out by Fa Keizer of Doetinchem. Perhaps also at this time it was upgraded to have the hydraulic brake system as on the later models. With that addition and while retaining correct rubber engine dampers of its series, it is today to the definitive specification of the Type 57.

After more than 4 decades of ownership in this family the Bugatti migrated to the U.K. being sold publicly. Its buyer subsequently refurbished the car mechanically before passing it to the current owner.

In its present custody, the decision was made to repaint the car in a style more in keeping with others of its brethren accenting the body moldings in a two tone scheme. At the same time, the interior was sympathetically attended to, repairing the original leather. The details of the cabin are particularly attractive and extend to aspects such as the rarely seen accessory of the original leather cover for the steering column.

On close inspection, this is a rewarding Bugatti to look at today, its distinct body styling is particularly appealing and the preservation of its interior has ensured that the soul and charm of the car can still be experienced. Bonhams has a great tradition of offering special Bugattis, the latest, this unique example follows firmly in those footsteps and will no doubt be appreciated for its usability in events such as those of the American Bugatti Club or indeed to be shown.

This version of Moskvich-408 car was created in 1964 by request of the Belgian importer Scaldia-Volga. Only two prototypes were built.

Type BDV1

The coupé version, which had been removed from the catalog, reappears and benefits from the technical improvements made to the 1939 6-cylinder models and their characteristic details such as the chrome-plated horizontal blade grille and the headlights fitted to the front fenders.

Its 6-cylinder engine of 4.1 liters, its aerodynamic line, its finish and price of 58,000 francs in 1938 - equivalent to the current 2.9 million euros (Insee)! - make it a prestigious model praised by the press: "The 6-cylinder Viva Grand Sport are luxurious and powerful models. As for the finish, the luxury, the good taste of the proposals and the presentation, they have been sanctioned for a long time by the unanimous opinion of the users who have recognized in this car all the qualities of the French genius "( L’Illustration).

The Viva Grand Sport coupe, which came out of the factory on 24 May 1939, was one of the last models manufactured by Renault before the war, since their manufacture ceased in September 1939 when France entered France in hostilities.

The exhibit is entirely original (with the exception of a hydraulic brake system installed at the time). Immobilized for 50 years, it displays only 22,000 kilometers and was only the subject of a cautious restart a few years ago. This rare car - the number of survivors is estimated to be less than ten - entered the Renault collection in January 2017.

The Sport Prinz was designed by Franco Scaglione at Bertone studios in Turin. Approximately 20,831 were manufactured between 1959 and 1967. The first 250 bodies were built by Bertone in Turin. The rest were built inNeckarsulm at a company called Drautz which was later bought by NSU. It was not much seen outside Germany. However, a spider (convertible) variant was the first production car in the world powered by aWankel rotary.

Lancia presented the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos HF prototype at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, a year after the announcement of the Stratos Zero concept car. The prototype Stratos HF (Chassis 1240) was fluorescent red in colour and featured a distinctive crescent-shaped-wrap-around windshield providing maximum forward visibility with almost no rear visibility. The prototype had three different engines in its early development life: the Lancia Fulvia engine, the Lancia Beta engine and finally for the 1971 public announcement, the mid-mounted Dino Ferrari V6 producing 192 metric horsepower (141 kW). The use of the Dino V6 was planned right from the beginning of the project, but Enzo Ferrari was reluctant to sign off the use of this engine in a car he saw as a competitor to his own Dino V6. After long and very Italian political antics and after the production of the Dino car had ended the Commendatore agreed on delivering the engines for the Stratos and all of a sudden 500 engines were dumped on Lancia’s door.

The Stratos was a very successful rally car during the 1970s and early 1980s. It started a new era in rallying as it was the first car designed from scratch for this kind of competition.[8] The three leading men behind the entire rallying project were Lancia team manager Cesare Fiorio, British racer/engineer Mike Parkes and factory rally driver Sandro Munari with Bertone's Designer Marcello Gandini taking a very personal interest in designing and productionising the bodywork.

The Rambler Classic is an intermediate sized automobile that was built and sold by American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the 1961 to 1966 model years. The Classic took the place of the Rambler Six and Rambler Rebel V-8 names, which were retired at the end of the 1960 model year.

Being of a suitable size for international markets, this Rambler was assembled in a number of countries. In Europe, Renault built this car in their Haren, Belgium plant and marketed it as a luxury car, filling the gap above the tiny Renault Dauphine.

The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud is an automobile produced by Rolls-Royce Limited from April 1955 to March 1966. It was the core model of the Rolls-Royce range during that period. The Silver Cloud replaced the Silver Dawn and was, in turn, replaced by the Silver Shadow. The J. P. Blatchley design was a major change from the pre-war models and the highly derivative Silver Dawn. As part of a range rationalisation the Bentley S1 is very similar, apart from its radiator grille.

Gärdesloppet, or Prins Bertil Memorial

Prince Bertil Memorial takes place each year in Stockholm, Sweden, in honour of Prince Bertil, uncle to Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf. The Prince was a race-car driver in the 1930s, using the pseudonym "Monsieur Adrian" to placate his disapproving father, later King Gustaf VI Adolf. Prince Bertil continued to act in the monarchy's best interests by forgoing marriage to his British girlfriend, Lilian Craig. Under Swedish law, which has since been changed, such a union with a commoner would have rendered him ineligible to serve as regent, should the need have arisen, to Carl Gustaf, son of Prince Bertil's deceased older brother. The Prince finally married the patient Lilian in 1976, three years after nephew Carl Gustaf was safely on the throne.
