Once the geometry had been established, a test rig was built to fine tune the workings in 3 dimensions. Each mechanical linkage was tested and refined individually before joining them together to form a gear train. This photo shows the wing stumps pivoting on rods set into the body wall of dragon, and the skewed cam mechanism which pivots the tail.

This is the fifth painting in my thesis, "Jātaka Tales of a Budgie-Sattva"; a narrative of an automaton in a world of geometric, technological, and rational forms. The artificial intelligence encounters an interruption in his rational model as he spies an organic budgie. The budgie, in turn, has adapted its coloring to camouflage itself in the inorganic environment.
The completed wings in place on the dragon body. The head is also finished, with glass eyes and hand carved horns.

This is an expensive toy for the entertainment of dinner guests. It can roll over the table, since the base of the ‘sculpture’ has wheels and a movement to propel it forward. The head of the stag can be removed and its body filled with wine. The guest in front of whom Diana stops may take the first drink.
