Auto-Takumar 35mm f/2.3

Symbolisch zum Ausdruck kam der Zusammenschluss der vier Pkw-Marken Audi, DKW, Horch und Wanderer im Auto-Union-Firmenzeichen mit den verschlungenen Ringen, dem heutigen Audi-Logo.

The merger of the four car brands Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer was symbolically expressed in the Auto Union logo with the intertwined rings, today's Audi logo.

While checking out the yards in Alliance, NE we found this shiny SD70ACe on the end of a coal train staged on the eastern edge of North Yard. The locomotive started beeping: it was a warning that the auto-start had been engaged and the locomotive would fire up shortly. After a quick setup I took this 30 second exposure that caught the initial plume of exhaust after the cold start. A half hour later the train was on the move east on the Sand Hills Subdivision.

Product of Romania. The poorest quality auto advertising on the earth. Almost nothing about these brochures make the car attractive or desirable. The features listed are those every car on the planet has.

This is the first shot in a (probably long) line of shots from India! This was taken inside an "auto" on the way from the airport to the hotel. An "auto" in India is essentially a three wheeled motorized vehicle that's insanely popular among the denizens of the country.

Given that I myself am from a developing country, I was embarrassed to see how much I've forgotten about the struggles of a person in such an area. On the bright side, I do remember becoming jaded about the plights of those around me when I was living in Bangladesh. I'm glad I spent a chunk of time away to have been able to become "re-sensetized" again!
