While checking out the yards in Alliance, NE we found this shiny SD70ACe on the end of a coal train staged on the eastern edge of North Yard. The locomotive started beeping: it was a warning that the auto-start had been engaged and the locomotive would fire up shortly. After a quick setup I took this 30 second exposure that caught the initial plume of exhaust after the cold start. A half hour later the train was on the move east on the Sand Hills Subdivision.
Spaziergang mit den Kindern am Wasser.. war gar nicht so leicht, ein Auto mit passender Zeichengelegenheit zu finden.

Some days have been hard to think of something, but at least it kept my brain ticking over :))
Even een zijsprong naar aanleiding van een gesprek laatst over spoorwegen in de Duitse Harz.
Inmiddels 15 jaar geleden, op een bloedhete augustusdag, maakten Karin en ik een prachtige wandeling in het beschutte en daardoor wat koelere dal van het riviertje de Bode. De wandeling bracht ons tot het stadje Thale. Vanaf het station zouden we een bus terugpakken naar het startpunt van de wandeling, waar onze auto stond.
Tijdens het wachten op de bus kon ik deze VT 785-3 van HEX op foto zetten die komend vanuit Halberstadt haar eindbestemming Thale HBF heeft bereikt.
Hauptbahnhof klinkt overigens wel wat groots voor dit kleine kopstationnetje...

This image is part of the Auto Art series from earlier this year. The subject, the car and the blading are all done by hand. It took a few attempts, but what a thrill having these come together.

Seen at a local thrift store. It's unusual to find an SLR on their shelves. This is a budget K-mount model made for Sears by Ricoh.
I was tempted, but I already have a very similar Ricoh CR-5 (a flea market find), so I left this kit for someone else.
