Apologize.
You will not always be right. You will not always be wrong. You will hopefully always be learning. Atonement is a sacrifice of pride. Explanation of why you did what you did or said what you said will not vindicate you. If the cost to heal someone is only your pride then apologize and be grateful that you’ve received peace at such a bargain.
Forgive.
Realize that some people are still learning. If forgiveness is not possible then think of everything you’ve ever wanted to be forgiven for but weren’t. Hold that uneasiness in your mind until you feel your desire for absolution becoming a wish. Realize you can grant this wish for others. If you are waiting for forgiveness, be prepared to wait. Be prepared to stand in the path of time and wither. Respect that forgiveness is difficult. Not all trespasses are equal and not everyone will heal according to your schedule.

Most countries have some kind of problem with their neighbors. But I don't think we can open up the future if we keep struggling to dig them up.
We must take the sins of the past seriously, atone for them, and find a way to move into the future with a forgiving heart.

The Sacré-Cœur is a basilica at the top of the hill of Montmartre. The temple, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was initially conceived as a public monument to pay homage to the memory of the French citizens who had lost their lives during the Franco-Kriman War and to atone for the sins committed by the Paris Commune.
It was the architect Paul Abadie who won the competition for its construction.
The first stone was placed in 1875 and, although it was completed in 1914, it was not consecrated until the end of World War I, in 1919.

The structure of the church is composed of six hexagons holding hexagonal ceiling and roof structures connected by slim clerestories separating one hexagon from the other as well as larger clerestories for illumination. The concrete walls are covered with painted textiles and the cross is composed of metal detritus resulting from the battle which covered this area of Germany during World War II. Such usage to form a cross was to symbolize both the pain and agony Christ's crucifixion but also his atonement for the of sinsof human-kind. Perhaps less successful are the two white marble pieces of liturgical furniture which were meant to take a phrase from the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy of Vatican II when it spoke of the pulpit as the table of the Word. Here the artist took the phrase very literally with a pulpit reflecting the size and shape of the altar/table. An unfortunate decision was to substitute straight pews for flexible seating which could have reflected the hexagonal shape of the church room.

The Seven Sisters are a series of chalk cliffs by the English Channel in East Sussex, between the towns of Seaford and Eastbourne and they are the remnants of dry valleys in the chalk South Downs, which are gradually being eroded by the sea. The Seven Sisters cliffs are occasionally used in filmmaking and television production as a stand-in for the more famous White Cliffs of Dover, since they are relatively free of anachronistic modern development and are also allowed to erode naturally. They are also featured at the beginning of the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and at the end of the film Atonement where Robbie and Cecilia always wanted to live. An east-facing photo of the Seven Sisters is included as one of the default landscape wallpapers packaged with Microsoft Windows 7.

Yom Kippur 2019 is observed from sunset of Tuesday, October 8th, through nightfall of Wednesday, October 9th, 2019.
