The Atomic Bomb Dome was formerly the Industrial Promotion Hall. The building was originally designed by Czech architect Jan Letzel and was completed in April 1915. It was called the Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial Exhibition then. In 1921 the name was changed to Hiroshima Prefectural Products Exhibition Hall. Finally in 1933 it was renamed to Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall.
