Three, including a 16 year old girl, were arrested outside the White House today. They were among those affiliated with the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker's "Jonah House" in Washington, DC who gathered to memorialize the 62nd anniversary of the United States dropping the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan and to protest the proliferation of nuclear arms and war in general.
It wasn't clear what charges would be brought against those arrested, although there are several rules that limit how one can protest outside the White House which are enforced with some irregularity. A Russian onlooker, who gave his name as Oleg, expressed confusion and bewilderment at the police activity although he did not agree with the demonstrators.
Police kept everyone far back.
