The Atomic Punk is a Bubble Top Show Rod built by Aaron Grote of Cerro Gordo, Illinois. Even though it looks like an Ed Roth fiberglass construction, the car is all made in steel by Aaron and his beloved english wheel. The fins and the trunk come from a 1959 Plymouth Savoy. The rollpan is built using the hood of an early 60s Chevrolet 2 ton truck. Taillights from a 1953 Ford are used in the rollpan.
Power comes from a 392 Hemi engine hooked to a Turbo 400 transmission. The front end is made up of a chromed, drilled and dropped I beam axle from Pete and Jakes with Wilwood disc brakes hidden inside a couple of O'Brien Truckers drums and backing plates. Almost every nut and bolt on the car is either chromed or polished stainless

I came home from the shop and took him out of the package right away and saw the eye lighted up. Can’t even forget the first smell of fresh paint on the figure well after decades……. I am grateful.

The kevlar-coated fabric audio cord is definitely durable and anti-tangle but unfortunately it's only for the part connecting the Y-splitter and the 3.5mm audio jack.
The cables from the Y-splitter to the earbuds are just rubber coated and disappointingly flimsy (it's actually thinner than what you find in most earphones).
Other than that, the SuperDarts is one of the few earbuds that bring the best of both sound and build quality. A rare combination of deep bass and superb clarity easily places this product among those priced twice higher than it.
*Side-note, the original rubber buds that comes with the Superdarts seem to be quite a dust magnet.

On July 25, 1946 at 8:34 a.m. local time, Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands was rocked by the underwater detonation of a 23 kiloton atomic bomb. This was the second test explosion of Operation Crossroads, a test conducted by the United States Navy to study the affects of nuclear weapons on ships, equipment, and material. The first detonation (Test ABLE) had taken place on July 1, with an aerial detonation of nuclear device at an altitude of 520 feet. The July 25 underwater detonation (Test BAKER) used a device anchored 90 feet underwater, sealed in a watertight steel caisson. For the test, a target fleet of 90 vessels was assembled, including old and surplus U.S. warships as well as three captured German and Japanese ships.

This was taken from the earth-covered top of one of the Secure Munitions Stores at RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire. These were built in the Cold War days to house "special weapons" ready to be loaded on aircraft.
During the recent SALT rally we got to park the cars in this alley between the stores and the revetment opposite - a very rare & unique opportunity! Like several of the buildings on the site, English Heritage has recently denoted the whole storage area as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Taken during SALT 8, the UK's only rally for Cold War Classics, held June 6-8 2014.
