The Cone Nebula (NGC 2264), 03/19/2020
Now I like a lot more then I thought I would! It is a really small target for my current setup and I did not think I could capture enough detail in the short amount of time I was able to spend collecting photons. But I wanted to see how the new telescope would do. I did crop it in a bit to make it look bigger in the frame. But damn it looks cool AF.
The Cone Nebula (or the Christmas Tree Nebula in December 😉) is an emission nebula found in the Monoceros Constellation. The cone shape is a cloud of cold hydrogen gas and dust blocking the light of the star S. Monocerotis which is the brightest star in this image. The cone is about seven light-year long and sits around 2,700 light-years from my telescope.

NGC 2403 - is a spiral galaxy spanning 80,000 lightyears across, located 10 million lightyears away. (Our Milky Way is 100,000 lightyears across).
The galaxy can be found in the constellation Camelopardalis, close to the celestial north pole.
The image reveals pink regions of glowing gas that are active star-forming regions of ionised hydrogen.
New-born stars glow scorching bright blue among the dark dust lanes of the galaxy's spiral arms.
This picture was created by integrating two and half hours worth of two-minute exposures using my Celestron C11 telescope.

The Deer Lick Galaxy Group is really only a visual grouping of galaxies in the constellation Pegasus.
The large, spiral galaxy NGC 7331 in the centre of this picture is a foreground galaxy in the same field of view as the collection known as the Deer Lick Group. It contains four other members, affectionately referred to as the "fleas": the lenticular or unbarred spirals NGC 7335 and NGC 7336, the barred spiral galaxy NGC 7337 and the elliptical galaxy NGC 7340. These galaxies lie at distances of approximately 332, 365, 348 and 294 million light years, respectively.
Although adjacent on the sky, this collection is not a galaxy group, as NGC 7331 itself is not gravitationally associated with the far more distant "fleas"; indeed, even they are separated by far more than the normal distances (~2 million light years) of a galaxy group.
Even so, it is nice to be able to capture so many galaxies in one shot.

According to my information there is a dark nebula in this picture. It is recorded as LDN 1242 in the constellation of Cepheus.
Perhaps if I had spent over 20 hours trying to capture it with five or six hours per night something might show up. I don't get enough clear nights to devote that much time in the hope that a dark nebula will emerge from the void. Not when there are so many rewarding objects find. So for now, I will just content myself with this view of some pretty stars in the night sky from integrating 20 three minute images.

The Rosette Nebula, also known as Caldwell 49, is a large HII region located some 4700 light-years from the solar system. It was discovered by the American astronomer Lewis Swift in 1865.
The mass of the Rosette Nebula is estimated to be about 10 000 times the mass of the Sun

Messier 53 (M53) is a globular star cluster located in the northern constellation Coma Berenices. The cluster is almost 60,000 light years from Earth. It contains at least 500,000 stars.
The stars in the cluster are considered metal-poor, as they contain very little quantities of elements heavier than helium, which is below average for stars found in a globular cluster.

故事說明:
SH2-275,玫瑰星雲,在全國大學天文聯盟儀器營隊的時候做拍攝,中心玫瑰的左上角可以看到淡淡的一條星雲,常常被當作為玫瑰的枝;而除了玫瑰星雲這名稱外,從現在的角度看,可以發現他貌似一個骷髏頭,因此也有人稱他為骷髏頭星雲。
評審短評:
作品對曝光累積時間不錯。唯獨色彩與高動態掌握上還有進步空間,色階與暗空背景的過渡稍微僵硬,建議可以使用多重曝光或窄頻,豐富這一區域的影像!

This sparkly group of bright, blue stars with backdrop of thousands more fainter stars is an Open Cluster of stars in the Constellation of Ophiucus and is catalogued as IC4665. It also known as the Summer Beehive Cluster or Poseidon's Trident. It is about 1,100 light years away. The cluster's very young age, about 35 million years, accounts for the beautiful blue, hot stars.
I got this image from over 2 hours worth of 2-minute exposures using my C11 telescope.

Pleiades or Seven Sisters is a star cluster with reflective nebulae. I took this image in 2-panel mosaic with QHY294M camera attached to Takahashi TSA120 telescope during 5-7 January 2021. Total 320x120s light frames were processed with Astropixelprocessor and final retouched in Lightroom classic.

M45,昴宿星團,全天最有名的深空天體之一,肉眼即可見到。星團中間年輕的恆星照亮了周圍的雲氣,由於只距離我們443光年左右,因此相當容易進行拍攝。
評審短評:
越是習以為常的深空天體,越能體現拍攝者在進行深空處裡時對於高亮度的星體與低亮度的星雲之間的調配,於累計2小時左右的曝光,可見作者對於天文攝影修圖的技術底運不低,這份作品可作為一般天文攝影修圖之標準作品。
Despite the light pollution from the bright moon I spent about four hours on this nebulous target before it dipped too low in the sky. The larger, predatory looking nebula is IC 417 and the smaller, brighter nebula is NGC 1931.
This fun pair are sometimes called the Spider and the Fly nebulae.
IC 417 is an emission nebula in the constellation Auriga, lying about 10,000 light years away. The glowing centre of the nebula is energized by the hot, massive blue stars embedded within and it is a hotbed of new star formation.
NGC 1931, the Fly Nebula (towards the top) is an emission and reflection nebula, and has been referred to as a miniature version of the Orion Nebula, as it shares some of the same characteristics.

The Large Magellanic Cloud is a lenticular galaxy that is part of the "local group" of galaxies and only 163,000 LY away from Earth. This picture also shows some very active associated star formation regions, including the Tarantula Nebula.
Picture composed from 8 Vaonis Vespera Passengers CovalENS mosaics, merged in AstroPixelProcessor and then post-processed with PixInsight.
Western Veil Nebula (Caldwell 34), 06/25/2020
This object is part of a super nova remnant from a star that was 20 times more massive than the sun. When that star blew up some 10,000 to 20,000 years ago, it left behind ionized gas and dust that has expanded to cover an area of the sky roughly 6 times the diameter of the Moon. This picture is only one small part of that explosion.
This night was kind of a last-minute decision. I looked outside and saw clear skies so I quickly setup the gear. It was my first night using some new toys, a new light pollution filter and an Asiair Pro computer. The new equipment worked great but I did have a few issues. I had my gain set to 200 for some reason and the polar alignment was crap. But I think I salvaged the data and the image turned out pretty good.

Messier 63 is also known as the Sunflower Galaxy and is one of the most beautiful galaxies in the night sky, so-called due to the wispy spiral arms and bright centre that give it a floral appearance.
It may be a spiral, but a closer look at pictures of the Sunflower Galaxy reveals that its spiral arms are not distinct, defined structures like those of the Whirlpool Galaxy, for example. Instead, it appears to have an indeterminate number of spiral arms bound closely together, and is what's known as a flocculent spiral galaxy, giving the Sunflower Galaxy its floral appearance.
The Sunflower Galaxy is located about about 27 million lightyears away from Earth and is slightly larger than our Milky Way.
I took this image on the night of Monday 6 April with my C11 telescope. It is integrated from 95 exposures of two minutes each.

The Wizard Nebula is 7200 light-years away in the Cepheus constellation. This is the first time I’ve shot this target and I definitely need to take much more data. This is also the first time I tried to do duo-band color processing. Pretty.

Sh2-185 fantasmi in Cassiopea, questi spettri cosmici si trovano a 613 anni luce, in alto ad dx si nota la brillantissima stella Gamma Cassiopeiae, una subgigante variabile bianco azzurra, che si trova a 550 anni luce ed è 19 volte più massiccia e 65.000 volte più brillante del nostro sole, la sua radiazione ultravioletta è responsabile del bagliore rossastro dell’idrogeno ionizzato.

La Nebulosa Elica o Occhio di Dio (NGC 7293) la quale si trova nella Costellazione dell’Acquario è uno degli esempi più spettacolari di nebulosa planetaria, creata da una stella morente che un tempo era simile al Sole. La nube ha una geometria sorprendentemente complessa, che include filamenti radiali, anelli esterni e addensamenti gassosi di ignota origine. Quando il combustibile necessario per le reazioni di fusione nucleare si esaurisce, le stelle di massa medio-piccola vanno incontro alla fine della loro vita gloriosa, espellendo gli strati gassosi esterni e lasciandosi dietro un nucleo denso e caldo, una nana bianca, Il puntino bianco visibile al centro della nube è proprio la densa nana bianca.
