Seed from StarAstrophytum that Jack planted on his recent visit. Overall excellent germination. and generous seed counts in the packets. Winter fun.

Ornatum is the giant of the genus.
This sample's stem is 15 cm in diameter and the flower is 5 cm in diameter.

Capricorne means the goats' horns.
This sp. shows great variability of the spine's lenght, colour, and shape.
The amount of white flecking of the epidermis is also very variable.
This variability have given rise to a large number of named species and varieties.
