Honorable Heidi Shyu, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, and General Dennis L. Via, Army Materiel Command commanding general, visited the 401st Jan. 16-17 to see brigade operations and meet some of the people who are 401st AFSB.
About the 401st:
The 401st Army Field Support Brigade provides Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines, the tools and resources necessary to complete the mission. If they shoot, drive it, fly it, wear it, eat it or communicate with it, the 401st helps provide it. The brigade assists coalition partners with many of their logistical and sustainment needs. The brigade also handles the responsible disposition of equipment in Afghanistan to support evolving missions. We are the single link between Warfighters in the field, and working through Army Sustainment Command, we leverage Army Materiel Command’s worldwide Materiel Enterprise to develop, deliver, and sustain materiel to ensure a dominant joint force for the U.S. and our Allies.

Anderson’s assistant Jade was in charge of putting together the EcoArt Conference at the University as well guiding most of the three week field survey of artists and scientists visiting nature areas in Taiwan. There were lots of moving pieces and she did an excellent job of making it all go smoothly, not to mention often arranging for me to get my morning Coke.
For me on my first visit to Taiwan she was very handy guide to have around to answer cultural and nature questions. She has a master’s degree in ecology and her thesis project was a study of the Formosan Lesser Scimitar Babbler (Pomatorhinus ruficollis musicus) which she especially liked because the male and female birds sing a duet.

In the coming years, healthcare will be the profession to be in. This will lead to an increase in demand for healthcare professionals. In demand will be professionals at all levels right from the nursing assistant to high end surgeons. Among all of these professions, the certified nursing assistant is the most critical. It is critical because it is a front line function, and one that is directly interacting with the patients. Apart from interacting with the patients. CNA training provides applicants with the basic knowledge about medical care, emergency first aid, knowing how to assist patients with physical disabilities, mental disorders and other healthcare needs.
