Master of None
I always find a new interest every few months and I'd say I'm sort of like a jack of all trades, master of none. I've like many different things in my past and although I may no longer like them as much as I used to, they're all still a part of who I am. I think all the interests I've had have contributed to my personality and who I am today.

I chose to focus on getting close to my subject and finding patterns. This is a very large painting currently hanging in my apartment and this picture is only a very small portion of it. However, it fully represents what the rest of the painting is like.
This is my 18th photo for an assignment at IADT in my Photography class. I decided to apply the Rule of Thirds to this composition. Also, I worked a lot with the Channel Mixer to create a color scheme that I believe is much more interesting than the original.

Active Assignment Weekly: Capture the season
The Assignment: Capture a shot that represents the season you are NOW experiencing. What best represents the weather for the week of November 7-14? No setup shots or still-lifes. For example, don't show a doll in a bathing suit and say it's summer. These shots should be environmental. It's okay to have people in your photo.
WIT: At this point, we are finishing our raking and waiting for the snow to fly. Increased contrast and saturation.

Always the way. This morning, still trying to come up with shot, this evening have to narrow it down from over 100! *eye roll* I need to learn to not take so many photos. Now I have to choose...... feel free to nominate you fav :) Cheers!
This one is slightly out of focus I think(or I've had one too many wines), the breeze must have turned it just as I clicked.

This assignment for my photography class at IADT called for taking pictures of each of the letters of the alphabet wherever I could find them. Then, I was to crop each of them into a 2" square and arrange them on an 11" x 17" document. I thought the assignment was kind of silly at first. But, now I think it came out pretty cool. I might take some of these letters and spell something on another composition when I have time.

Active Assignment Weekly:
en•joy•ment
–noun
1. the act of enjoying.
2. the possession, use, or occupancy of anything with satisfaction or pleasure
3. a particular form or source of pleasure
I thought it might be nice to have a reasonably broad assignment this week so let’s all attempt to create a photograph that represents enjoyment. It could be absolutely anything that represents something you personally enjoy (permitted by the terms of the group of course!).
Restriction
The photo should convey something that you personally enjoy. So posting a photo of someone else enjoying an ice cream would be no good if you don’t also enjoy eating ice cream. Posting a photo of a pet or child playing would be fine as we can assume you enjoy playing with them. It might be nice to learn a little something that we may not already know about you from your photograph. :)
Dare
To make some kind of change to the shot during post processing that other members of the group may not be able to easily identify. Please indicate if you have taken on the dare when posting your photo so other members will know if they should try to guess what you have changed.
Examples
Please feel free to add any images which you think might help other members with inspiration.
WIT: There's something completely relaxing and satisfying in developing and printing silver geletin prints for me. That said, I really haven't done much lately. This took about an hour of cleaning out the darkroom and setting up trays and moving the light closer. I set up the tripod and took a few exposures on manual to find the right combination, then placed the photo in the tray and shot it with this combination (F/2.8, 0.5 sec exposure, ISO 800). CS4 curves for contrast which actually took out the timer in the foreground, cloned out a distracting reflection, slight rotation, sharpen, resize.
I did do one other step in post processing that I've been finding I like, though it isn't very obvious in this shot.

I asked some people to shoot something for my first assignment but no one had any time so I decided to do it on my own. In my opinion "doing something" doesn't always have to involve a lot of action. Because of this I chose to shoot one of the activities I really used to do pretty often. This is waht a perfect evening would have looked like until recently. Hopefully I will be able to get back into reading again soon.
This shot includes a book cover which might insult some people. For those people I have to say that this is not a book that is glorifying Nazis but it is about how the world would look like if the Nazis would have won WWII (The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick). I really love to read about strongly polarising and controversial topics which you have to think about and I also enjoy a good glass of wine from time to time.

Strobist: One AB 800 right of the camer bounced from the wall and another one left of the camera through an umbrella. A Canon Speedlite 540ez left of the cupboard bounced from the ceiling. Triggered with Cyber Sync gear.
Ashley's assignment on ritual. Peyton and I switched speech patterns. (In the documentation, both Eric and Ashley interrupted us, so please ignore the middle bit).
Assignment 52 -- Painting with light
Visions of the Green Fairy were said to come to those who drank quantities. I haven't seen the Fairy yet myself. This light painting was done with the flame of a fireplace lighter.

As we announced yesterday, our new assignment reflects the work of Vivian Maier. Please post your (new!) photos between Feb 1 - 22 and use the hashtag #vivianmaierassignment.
JUNKYARD TREASURES: Maier was fascinated by what others might consider junk. So its ironic that her work was only discovered when John Maloof bought a box of photos at a flea market auction. Go find that hidden treasure that is usually overlooked - be it at the bottom of a bin, a local flea market or an estate sale.
I’M SORT OF A SPY (x2): Meander through the streets of your hometown and look - really LOOK. What catches your eye? An interesting outfit or posture? A group of people waiting for a bus? A couple holding hands at the street light? The legs of mother and child in a shop? We’re sure you’ll come up with an excellent shot. No wait - make that two! It’s the VM classic, after all.
IN THE NEWS: Vivian Maier was fascinated by the news - especially when they highlighted the folly of humanity. She also horded newspapers. For this assignment, set up a photo that has a newspaper or headline of sorts in it.
MANGLED MANNEQUIN: Next time you go window-shopping ignore the clothes and look at the mannequins. Lop-sided? Disassembled? Naked? You’ve got your shot.
MIRROR MIRROR: The classic VM selfie. Come on, we couldn’t do a Vivian Maier assignment and not have this one in there. Find something shiny and let us see a reflection of you and your camera. Shadow and smile optional.
BONUS ASSIGNMENT: A picture that no one will see: Take it, have it developed, don’t show it to anyone. Stash it away in a box. Post a photo of the box.
Please be kind and respectful when doing street photography. Vivian Maier was not just an exceptional photographer - she has also been described as “imposing and rude”. Don’t be inspired by that.
Remember: Only post new (mobile) photos, and only tag one per assignment. You can tag your outtakes with #vivianmaierassignment_outtake, though.
By the way - We’re not checking if you finish all 6 assignments, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t finish. The main thing is to start playing and have fun!
