Assembly Line
In 1913, the revolutionary concept of mass production began with the Model T car. In that year, with Henry Ford’s perfected assembly line, 1,400 employees were able to produce 12,125 cars and 304 delivery trucks. This mural depicts the labour intensive work of the assembly line during the mid-1940s.

A self portrait inside one of those locations that I wish still existed. The absolutely massive St Thomas Assembly Plant that manufactured Ford vehicles, I made three separate trips to this location during the demolition process but still was not able to see the entire complex.

For once it's not just a way to justify a wip shot. I just really like the process of building a plane, the mere idea of an assembly line. Plus it gives me a reason to build in yellow ^^
I originally wanted to build a very large diorama and therefore built three of those, but I dreamed too big for now, and also wanted to focus on other projects, less brick consuming.
Anyway, as some of you may already have figured, it was inspired by this famous picture. But I don't like glass nose variant so much, the G & H variants with the short nose are definitely my favorites
The nose was really the hardest part, I'm still not intirely satisfied with it, but this build has been sitting around for 6 month now, so I think it's time upload ;p
In the end the scaffolding type base was a bit tricky, but really most enjoyable to build.
Note : I'll upload a complete plane in the future, I just need to gather some more parts.
But really this is not intended as some teasing of a final entire plane. That being said, please enjoy !

1960 Model Year at the Chrysler Plant in Fenton, MO
On October 10, 1957, The Chrysler Corporation announced it would build a 200-acre, $50 million assembly plant on Highway 66 between the Meramec River and Route 141 at Fenton, Missouri. The plans called for the 1960 models to be the first ones off the assembly line there. The plant was expected to employ 3,500.

Sierra Nevada Brewing in Mills River will open its brewery taproom and restaurant on March 10, the company has announced. Located next to the brewery, the taproom will feature almost two dozen Sierra Nevada beers including one-offs and specialties not available anywhere else. Beer will be produced on a 20-barrel pilot system. "It will be producing a fair amount of beer," company spokesman Bill Manley said. Last year, Sierra Nevada made 180 different brews, between the Mills River brewery and the original operation in Chico, California, he said. The taproom and restaurant will seat nearly 400 visitors and will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-9 p.m. Sunday. The pilot system is not yet producing beers, so for now, the brews served will come from the Mills River and Chico breweries. The restaurant will serve "farm to table, small plate and sharable food sourced from conscientious suppliers," a company statement said. It will use ingredients from local farms and markets and Sierra brews will be a "staple ingredient" in food items. Brewery tourism becomes hot topic in Asheville. The taproom and restaurant will open in phases, with the main dining room and taproom coming first, then an outdoor dining site, organic produce garden and live music room coming in summer. It's the latest chapter in the brewery, located next to the Asheville Regional Airport in Henderson County, about 10 miles from downtown Asheville. Last summer, the brewery hosted its first public event, the Beer Camp festival that pulled a sold-out crowd of 5,600 people. On March 28, Sierra will produce the Burly Beers and Barleywines Festival with a lineup of strong brews from 50 American craft breweries. Another Beer Camp festival is planned for later this year, through details have not yet been announced. Sierra announces burly beer fest lineup. The main Sierra brewery will produce more than 350,000 barrels of beer this year, Manley said. Sierra is one of three major craft breweries to build in Western North Carolina, with Oskar Blues open in Brevard and New Belgium under construction on the French Broad River in West Asheville. More than 40 craft breweries are located in Western North Carolina.

A girl riveting machine operator at the Douglas Aircraft Company plant joins sections of wing ribs to reinforce the inner wing assemblies of B-17F heavy bombers, Long Beach, Calif. Better known as the "Flying Fortress," the B-17F bomber is a later model of the B-17, which distinguished itself in action in the south Pacific, over Germany and elsewhere. It is a long range, high altitude, heavy bomber, with a crew of seven to nine men -- and with armament sufficient to defend itself on daylight missions
