Assembled by my husband. Painted by him too, because I threatened to make a mess. I then sat next to him while he did it and made a mess with clay instead.

The sail is a cheap poly-tarp. I couldn't source a good quality one quickly so thought I'd try a cheapie... I figure if it doesn't work it's only cost an evening and $25...
I used double sided carpet tape to make the hems and fibreglass reinforced tape (filament tape) anywhere I thought it might be required.. including all around the edge as a pseudo bolt-rope...
Only need to fit the grommets now and it's ready.

A few months ago our local woodturning club decided to have a club challenge where every member would receive a 10 inch square X 1 3/4 inch piece of plain maple. We could create anything we wanted to, cut it apart, paint it, or stain it, add epoxy, shell or stone to it, the only rule was that we couldn't add any extra wood. I thought about what I would create for quite some time and decided to make this piece, it consists of 24 pieces. The ball was turned first in two halves then together as a whole. I then made a chuck to hold the sphere and rotated it on 32 different points. 20 of the points were turned with a small bore for the spikes to be glued into and a small bead around the bore. The other 12 points were turned with a cove and then a hole that enters the sphere. The spikes were all turned individually and glued into the bores. The stand includes a loose ring feature that I then stained and the top portion is threaded to allow the internal spike to be threaded onto it locking the bottom half of the sphere to the base.

I wanted a quick and easy cart to store my long scrap pieces of wood. Up until now, they were all leaning against the wall, blocking a side exit out of my garage. Now I can stack and keep the wood, and roll the cart out of the way if I need to get out the door. Simple and easy, but useful!
Play this extremely smart game at: www.hiddenobjectgamesnow.net/game/211/3d-Cube-Assembler.html
This is a very interesting brain game with very clear task; to give you troubles. But, it is natural the hardest task brings the greatest satisfaction after you solve it. Everyone knows what Rubik's Cube is and everyone is afraid only of her name. It takes more than a myriad of combinations to arrange all the small cubes on each side of her in order to put them in the same color. Many of us think that only above-average intelligent persons can solve it and they give it up long before they attempt. Actually, for that is required a long exercise. Each task has a solution, but it needs perseverance and repetition of several times. So, here's one way to begin with the training. This is an entertaining way which will not force you to dismiss easily the task. All the best!
