Inspired by a vacation to Door County. There was a display of an old ship engine and the artist thought the engine was beautiful. The proportions were nice and the rusting gave it extra color. Watercolor
2004 Sculpture: 30’H x 30’W x18”D Railing: 500’L New York Avenue Metro Station, Downtown, Washington, D.C. Leaf: Aluminum / Light Railing: Steel Journeys is a collaboration with Dolores Kendrick, Poet Laureate of Washington D.C. Her poetry enriches the pedestrian experience. The integration of words into the artwork contributes to the multi-layered, richly textured public space. The leaf is illuminated from within at night, providing a beacon of light at the entrance to the station.
