A nice mobile phone shot of the A380 Airbus and the Red Arrows flying in formation. I took this whilst sitting in the BAE hospitality bar drinking a free beer and watchin the air show. A good way to spend Thursday afternoon.

Black Arrow launched Britain's first and only home-launched satellite - Prospero. Black Arrow was originally designed to sit on top of Blue Streak to provide an Ariane-style multi-stage launcher and despite an reasonable record was cancelled after only four launches, the main reason for the cancellation being the small payload capacity of the rocket.

Airbourne is proud to welcome back the RAF Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, one of the world's premier aerobatic display teams. 2014 marks a special year for the team who will be celebrating their 50th display season.

With a trademark combination of close formations and precision flying, the Red Arrows have been displaying since 1965 and is made up of a team of 120 people including pilots, engineers and support staff. They represent the speed, agility and precision of the Royal Air Force and the public face of the service, assist in recruiting to the Armed Forces and act as ambassadors for the United Kingdom promoting the best of British.

Many of the current pilots were first inspired to pursue a career in the military and join the Royal Air Force after watching the Team in the sky as children.

To apply for selection to the Red Arrows, pilots must:

* Have at least 1,500 fast jet flying hours

* Have completed a frontline tour

* Be assessed as above average in their flying role

The Red Arrows are famous for the visual impact of their red, white and blue smoke trails. Smoke also plays an important flight safety role too allowing the pilots to judge wind speed and direction - enabling them to locate other aircraft when different sections of the Team's formations are several miles apart.

Airshows are all about... timing! Whether you are waiting for the sun to glint on the canopy, the wings to get to the correct angle, the pilot to light the afterburners or in this case the exact split second that two planes heading in the opposite direction at high speed cross over.

These guys have a closing rate of around 800Knots (920MPH) and a separation of, well not a lot really as you can see. Awsome stuff, as our American friends would say.

Stan Lee’s Comikaze is Los Angeles’ first and only large-scale, multi-media pop culture convention. Held annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Comikaze assembles the most exciting and innovative in comics, video games, sci-fi, fantasy, horror and all things pop-culture. Partnering with comic legend Stan Lee himself and Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Comikaze is the only pop-culture convention owned and operated by true pop-culture icons. After spending much time researching both local and national conventions in the United States, Regina Carpinelli, the co-founder and CEO of Comikaze Entertainment Inc, and the rest of the Comikaze team have crafted an event that will thrill and excite even the most casual comic fan.

Having attracted 55,000 fans from around the country in only our third year, Stan Lee’s Comikaze is quickly growing into one of the most diverse and celebrated geek and pop-culture events in the United States. Our 2013 event housed over 600 diverse artists and vendors, selling exclusive, rare and limited editions of comics, collectibles, art, toys and other hard-to-find merchandise. Our unique panels, autograph sessions and photo-ops give fans once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to truly interact with their favorite creators and major players in the entertainment industry.

The Stan Lee Comikaze team strives to make all your geeky fantasies come true! It is important that we create a cohesive community around our event. We like to think of ourselves as a family, because we are a family. Elvira is our crazy and expressive aunt who is also brilliant, beautiful and comes up with creative ideas. Stan Lee is our wise grandfather, the one who reminds you to stay true to yourself and to always reach for the stars. And as for the rest of the Comikaze team, we are the crazy kids who don’t always follow the rules, but believe that together we can provide an unparalleled and unforgettable experience for all. This truly is an event for the fans, by the fans.
