Very happy I caught this special ops MH-60M pin-sharp while on the move. Sure miss seeing the 160th SOAR fly around...

This is a Throwback Thursday (9 June 2016) photo from the 9 June 2015 Historic Flight Foundation (HFF) BBQ for the US Army 160th SOAR, 4th Battalion and the Royal Air Force 7 Squadron. The two units were training together in Washington State, with the Royal Air Force Chinooks having been brought over to (or back to) the US via contracted Anton*vs.

Very grateful the 160th SOAR, 4th Battalion was kind enough to follow HFF's Visitor Services Director (and unofficial Prime Minister of Paine Field) Vanessa Dunn's parting request to "make some noise". I rather fav this image of a rare MH-47G Chinook with special operations capability low-approaching the famous Paine Field Windsock spotting location.

Now the Boeing MH-47G Chinook can operate in inclement weather and with its special equipment make precision flights and landings despite inclement weather and rough terrain. Look carefully and you can see the MH-47G's eyes...

Please mare sure to visit the 2015 Paine Field Aviation Day photoset for more photos from arrival day & the actual event. Many thanks.

I was attempting to find my own way to be Lyle Jansma - genius behind Cockpit360. I can't do it with a fisheye lens it seems - the pin-sharp detail just isn't there. But here you go.... better to spend the $27 on a Glazer's lens rental than well over $300 on a lens purchase.

Otherwise, 11 November 2016 was a really awesome day. Sure was happy to photograph the oldest flying Chinook helicopter in the world fly into the Museum of Flight and test out a Fisheye lens - photos as I develop up at flic.kr/s/aHskNrQetQ .
