HILO, Hawaii (Nov. 16, 2019) - U.S. Army Chinook helicopters assigned to the Hillclimbers of 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment provide inter-island troop lift support to 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Soldiers over the Hawaiian Islands, Nov. 16, 2019. U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers with the 2-151st Security and Support Aviation Battalion, South Carolina National Guard, received the new UH-72 Bravo Lakota helicopter at Army Aviation Support Facility Two, Feb. 7, 2023, Greenville, South Carolina. Flown from Huntsville, Alabama the newest edition of rotary wing aircraft for the South Carolina National Guard Army Aviation will be replacing the UH-72 Alpha models, as the South Carolina National Guard was one of nine states fielded two of the new UH-72 Bravo models. This upgraded aircraft equipped with enhanced engines, transmission, and avionics will be an important asset, specifically for search and rescue missions with the South Carolina Aquatic Rescue Team (SC-HART), providing a faster response time to emergencies with increased space to rescue and transport more individuals. A South Carolina Army National Guard LUH-72A Lakota utility helicopter assigned to the “Raiders” of A Co., 2-151st Security and Support Aviation Battalion, flies over Edisto Island in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma continental landfall, South Carolina, September 12, 2017. The flight was part of a larger damage-assessment mission flown by the National Guard crew in support of the S.C. Department of Transportation. The LUH-72A is a multi-mission, military, aircraft providing flexible response capabilities to Homeland Security and local authorities during emergencies. The helicopter can perform search and rescue operations, hoist extraction, water drops over wildfires, reconnaissance and assessment, and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) missions, and it has been a critical asset during the S.C. The photo is always of the OTHER Huey in the two ship jitter bug op. This Slick is probably from the 335th AHC.
A UH-60 Blackhawk pulls up to the firing line to start its run. The unit was conducting Aerial Gunnery at Ft. Hood to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
The M-240H machinegun is an aviation version of this weapon with an interesting update. It can be easily converted to the "B" infantry version if the aircrew find themselves landing in an area they had no intention being at.
Please note this was back in 2012, when I just didn't have my head about me as far as framing photos correctly. But here you go, you can see the wear & tear these Kiowas have taken over the years...

Just imagine the stresses of all that centrifugal force... and then that centerfuge fighting turbulence plus tight banking plus occassional rolls. This is the engineering solution to that problem... and yes, I see the AN/AVR-2A Laser Warning Reciever. The latter is discussed in other photos in the photoset - just are the other aircraft from the American Heroes Airshow.

Members of the South Carolina National Guard (SCNG), families, and friends, attend the 75th Anniversary Army Aviation Heritage Celebration event hosted by the 59th Aviation Troop Command (ATC), South Carolina Army National Guard (SCARNG), at the SCNG Army Aviation Support Facility (Location 1), McEntire Joint National Guard Base (JNGB), South Carolina, Nov. 4, 2022. The event celebrated 75 years of Army Aviation in South Carolina, a program originated by an initiative of Lt. Col. Frank D. Pinckney in September 1947, when the SCARNG was preparing to receive its newly assigned support aircraft. Pickney chose the Congaree Air Base (today’s McEntire JNGB) as the support facility for its SCNG Army airplanes. That legacy continues today through the 59th ATC and its subordinated commands across South Carolina.

U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers with the 1-151st Aviation Regiment, Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB), 59th Aviation Troop Command (ATC), South Carolina National Guard, conduct a change of responsibility ceremony at the South Carolina National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility (Location 1), Joint National Guard Base McEntire, Eastover, South Carolina, May 21, 2023. During the ceremony, U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin A. Williams assumed responsibility as the command sergeant major for the 1-151st ARB from outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. Donald W. Cooley. The event included the traditional passing of the colors and the passing of the noncommissioned officer (NCO) sword. The passing of the colors represents the continuity of leadership and trust within a unit, whereas the passing of the NCO sword is a reminder of the senior NCO's responsibilities in ensuring order and discipline among the troops of that unit. The sword also reminds the senior NCO of their overarching responsibility for the care and welfare of the troops. South Carolina National Guard and civilian guests, families, and friends, welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Williams as the new Senior Enlisted Advisor for the 1-151st ARB. The 1-151st ARB is the first National Guard unit—doctrinal 24-aircraft U.S. Army attack reconnaissance battalion—equipped with the AH-64E Guardian, the latest version of the Apache helicopter. Army National Guard, for sling-load movement to McEntire Joint National Guard Base, Eastover, S.C. Dec. 7, 2014. The Black Hawk made an emergency landing in an open field Dec. 3, 2014 due to a main rotor blade malfunction in Columbia, S.C.
