The Terracotta Army or the "Terracotta Warriors and Horses" is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210–209 BCE and whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife.
The figures, dating from approximately the late third century BCE, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The figures vary in height according to their roles, with the tallest being the generals. The figures include warriors, chariots and horses. Current (2007) estimates are that in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there were more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits nearby Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum. Other terracotta non-military figures were also found in other pits and they include officials, acrobats, strongmen, and musicians.

The 11th Air Force was created at the beginning of the war for the defense of Alaska. In June 1942, the Japanese occupied and held the islands of Attu and Kiska in the Aleutian Islands. The 11th Air Force quickly started bombing the two islands and any shipping attempting to supply and reinforce them. In 1943 the 11th Air Force took part in the recapture of Attu and Kiska. With offensive operations in the Aleutians over the 11th Air Force turned its attention to bombing the Kurile Islands, Japan's most northern home islands.
This uniform was worn by Major General John B. Brooks. Brooks was one of the Army Air Forces' pioneering aviators. In 1916, he flew with the 1st Aero Squadron supporting General Pershing's Punitive Expedition into Mexico and later was instrumental in setting up Army aviation in the Hawaiian Islands. During World War II he held various high level command and staff positions. In June 1945, he was assigned as the commanding officer of the 11th Air Force where he lead the final raid on the Kurile Islands
