I think that's a Liquorice Allsorts tin in the background. It's all designed to be wired up to an Arduino for the BV Studios open day in October. The tins have solenoids and piezo sensors in them, and will record and play back drum rhythms.
And yes, I know the pushbutton is not actually able to do anything, this is just a "in the middle of it" actionshot.
