The City of Arts and Sciences is an entertainment-based cultural and architectural complex in the city of Valencia, Spain. It is the most important modern tourist destination in the city of Valencia and one of the 12 Treasures of Spain.
Work of the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, several of its buildings have become icons in the city. It is a scientific and cultural leisure complex which can be enjoyed with family or friends, covering around two kilometres of the former riverbed of the River Turia.

The first time i saw that flood barrier was in 2005 during my first London visit. We had a drink in the "anchor and hope" in the evening and i was impressed by the futuristic looking installation i saw from there. I had no camera then but i told me that one day i might come back to photograph that barrier. This year during my London visit it was definitely on my photo list.
I drove out with public transport (DLR from Cannon Street to Charlton, 621 Bus to greenwich Unitech College) on a hot summer afternoon. Apart of the sweating the conditions were perfect, fluffy clouds and a blue sky in the afternoon light.
I took advantage of my Hoya Polarizer and a Lee Big Stopper and took several shots from different angles. This one is my favourite.

Spent too much time retracing my steps on google maps to find this building again. Its at the corner of Market st and Pine st.
I decided to revisit my trip to Rome but I seemed to have also revisited my potential for worry. Martha Beck wrote, in her book Beyond Anxiety, that you should give your anxiety a spirit animal. Mine would be a goat-not because I don't like goats (I like all animals after all) but because it constantly nags me when I am trying to find the delight in life's small and large treasures. Worrying is something that humans have a great capacity for and, though we no longer fight in The Colosseum, our brains are fighting us all day long it seems, especially lately.

Saturday night at the laundromat in wintertime is a triste affair. I would choose Tuesday, when I think back, for my visits to do this fun chore. It was many years ago and it was time where I would read the 'paper' or even a book between rinse and spin. Of course the price watching the dryer spin around is no longer in cents, but in dollars, but the entertainment is as exciting as EVER.
