Framed my the live oaks and Spanish moss, the Mercer Williams House fronting on Monterey Square was the centrepiece in Clint Eastwood's 1997 classic "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".

The Mercer-Williams House was designed by New York architect John S. Norris for General Hugh W. Mercer, great-grandfather of celebrated songwriter Johnny Mercer. Construction began in 1860 and was subsequently interrupted by the Civil War. It was eventually completed in 1868, after General Mercer sold the unfinished structure to John R. Wilder. Thus, no Mercer ever actually lived in the house that bears their name. In Savannah, the majority of historic homes use the name of the home’s original family in addition to the most prominent family.

Gazi Khassim pasha had it built between 1543-46.approximately in the place of the Medieval main church of the town, the St Bartholomew Parish Church, that was demolished at that time. Of its two main parts of the building, the original, Turkish one is which faces the square. Of the original interior - apart from some fresco fragments - only the mihrab (worship niche marking the direction of Mecca), also decorated with stalactite vaulting, has survived. The church gained a more and more Baroque aspect during the repeated reconstructions until the restoration in its original form took place; it regained its present appearance between 1939 and 1942. The ogee-arch windows were reconstructed and in place of the original entrance the new, semicircular, Bauhaus wing in the northwest was built at this time - the latter decorated by a local painter Ernő Gebauer. Presently it's Roman Catholic Curch.

The palace is protected by the outside walls and soldiers guard and build their ammunition in the circular walls. Water was allowed in canals for the horses to tip and fall.

This bird house park outside of Picton has been around since 1980 and has a great variety of bird houses on display that replicas of famous buildings in Prince Edward County. It's free and accessible. I haven't been in years but I will be back to check it out. These film shots are from 2006 and the rest of the roll where I had more closeups was destroyed by a local film lab.

Aqueducts moved water through gravity alone, being constructed along a slight downward gradient within conduits of stone, brick or concrete. Most were buried beneath the ground, and followed its contours; obstructing peaks were circumvented or, less often, tunnelled through. Where valleys or lowlands intervened, the conduit was carried on bridgework, or its contents fed into high-pressure lead, ceramic or stone pipes and siphoned across. Most aqueduct systems included sedimentation tanks, sluices and distribution tanks to regulate the supply at need.

These arches stand between the two quadrangles of Glasgow University, dating from the 1870s.

The contribution of small farms to local food supply, food security and food sovereignty is widely acknowledged at a global level. In the particular case of Europe, they often are seen as an alternative to large and specialised farms. Assessing the real role of small farms has been limited by a lack of information, as small farms are frequently omitted from agricultural censuses and national statistics.

This 1885 Italianate Victorian home is a National Register property and a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark. Built in the shape of a club, with three octagonal wings and an rectangular wing, this house is considered one of the most unique in the country. It has been features in several publications and broadcasts including HGTV’s “Christmas Castles” and “Bob Villa’s Guide to Historic Homes.

Perhaps the most one-of-a-kind house in the country is found in Texarkana. The Ace of Clubs House, also known as the Draughon-Moore home, has one of the most unusual histories in the area. According to local legend, the Ace of Clubs House was built with winnings from a poker game won with the draw of the ace of clubs. Fittingly, lumberman and Confederate veteran Captain James Draughon built the home in 1885 in the shape of a club. In 1894, Henry Moore, a Texarkana attorney, bought the house.
