Constructed during the reign of Catherine II.
"In the 1770s, Catherine the Great, empress of Russia, demonstrated an almost insane adoration for Raphael. She ordered her artists to re-create, in exact and meticulous detail, the loggias decorated by Raphael and his assistants in the Vatican palace. These are the most perfect examples of Renaissance "grotesques", imitations of the frescos found in Nero's palace in Rome. Raphael's loggia designs in the Vatican are not on public view. But you can walk down the perfect reproduction in the Hermitage in St Petersburg." www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2004/oct/09/art

“9:30 p.m. November 1 2009, Rowley, up to his old tricks debuts his spoof collection ” BA- BILL” inspired by past Contessa images and shot by Babak. ” Salon Magazine Jan. 2010.
I thought it was a great idea when Salon Magazine approached me to make a spoof collection based on my 2004 photos entries to the Contessa awards. I exaggerated some of the elements that were in the original collection to get the point a cross but did not use the same back grounds or lighting as I thought that would have been too simple and obvious. I enjoyed making this collection with all its little nuances .

Scandinavian Modernism: In Pursuit of Function and Beauty, a new exhibition at San Francisco International Airport, captures the dazzling array of furniture and furnishings that emerged from Scandinavia from the late 1920s through the mid 1960s. More than 50 examples of furniture, ceramics, glass and lighting designed by prominent Scandinavian Modernists are on view.
The featured objects reflect Scandinavian Modernism’s ideals of utility and purity of form, in particular the designers’ emphasis on softer, more organic forms, natural materials and fine craftsmanship. Among the iconic works included in the exhibition are Poul Henningsen’s avant-garde PH lamp (1927-1928), Bruno Mathsson’s bentwood Pernilla lounge chair (1933-36), Arne Jacobsen’s Ant chair (1951) and Series 7 chair (1955), Hans Wegner’s beautiful and practical Valet chair (1953), and glass works by Nils Landberg and Ingeborg Lundin.

XIX в.
The final piece (so far), with 3D sculpted arm features to reiterate to a viewer how much deeper a representation this is intended to be than a traditional portrait, also adding more interest with use of more media and deception of depth. I intend to use acrylic paints with touches of oils, to distort some features such as the cheek and nose to how i see them instead of observationally correct. These 'distorted' features will be painted aiming more towards realism, whereas the observationally correct parts will be painted using more expressive marks. This will add further interest as well as help to direct the viewer's eyes towards what looks more 'realistic' and detailed, only for the realistic features to be disproportional. hopefully this will work to inspire reflection into our perception of ourselves and how much one image can show.
Model for a silver frame in the pilgrimage church in Sonntagberg. This wood carving was used for the cast.
I just thoght that this looked like one hell of a carving job and just had to take the picture.

A guided visit to the wine cellars is like you enter a vault with precious wines. Cistercian-style cellars from the 12th, 14th and 16th centuries extend under the Château and its outbuildings and can hold up to 800,000 bottles and more than 2,000 oak barrels.
Afterwards some "Degustation", wine tasting, while the guide talks on and on. Ask some questions so you'll enjoy your stay longer.
