On May 14, the Institute of Applied Agriculture celebrated the achievements of students past and present with an evening of local food, wine, and dancing at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
Numerous local businesses and food producers contributed to the farm-to-table menu and silent auction.
The "Golden Gala" rosé wine which was served with the meal was produced by Dr. Joe Fiola at the AGNR Western Maryland Research and Education Center in Keedysville.
Proceeds from the event benefit the IAA Enhancement Fund, which supports scholarships, professional development opportunities (such as conferences and student competitions), curriculum enhancement, hands-on projects, and other action-learning activities.

In celebration of Earth Day 2019, Ohio University's Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs teamed up with students from Amesville Elementary School to plant over 200 seedlings along Federal Creek. This applied educational effort will increase the vegetative buffer for the community and help reduce impacts from surrounding land use and flooding. Photo essay by 2018-19 Voinovich Photojournalism Fellow Christiana Botic.
I applied the loose ends of a Filter over this one, if anyone asks, I can go back into the program and retrieve the name. However, this is my umbrella, I honestly use it. Ahah.
That is how the concrete wall is though.

The Applied Policy Project (APP) is a core component of the MPA degree, and is required for graduation. In their APP, students work in small, two to four person teams with a faculty adviser on a year-long consultancy project done for an external client. Students are responsible for all aspects of their projects, from defining the problem and choosing a method to presenting their results and evaluating their work. The APP is a bridge between academic and experiential learning, and between school and the professional world.
