This pocket-sized Book of Hours was created ca. 1460-70 in Bruges, and its artist appears to have been influenced by the famed Flemish illuminator Willem Vrelant. Most notable are the thirteen delicate grisaille (gray tone) miniatures, with their matching foliate borders. Although the original owner remains unknown, an early inscription reveals that the book was gifted by an Italian lady to her female cousin within a few generations of its creation. Other manuscripts in the collection with related textual and codicological features include W.177, W.179, and W.183.

When I don't stamp for a while (for me that's a week or two) I need to do something to get the "gears in motion" again. I like to just stamp out a simple scene and practice the fundamentals of media application. Most of the time, this means stamping out some scene that I've done many times but, in this case, I have a large stack of "stamp sketches" from over the years and I've picked out 3 to finish off in this video. I'm keeping things simple here by using the same color scheme in all of the pieces. The lesson kind of becomes a lesson in scenic lighting by oscillating lights and darks by separating streaks of ink application.

10,000 striking teachers march through London 26/03/2014
As part of a one day national strike by National Union of Teachers (NUT) members over ten thousand London area members marched through Central London to protest against worsening pay and conditions, cuts to their pensions, raising of the retirement age to 68 years, excessive government testing of pupils and the constant interference with the curriculum made by Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove who, claim the teachers, is clearly intent on completely privatising education and at the same time dragging the school curriculum back to the 1940's.
