This image was captured as the Southern-Billed Hornbill was leaving his perch. They are beautiful at anytime but especially so when flying. Africa offers incredible bird life besides all the wonderful wildlife and scenery !

It's never a problem finding somewhere to eat in Thailand. A common expression is, "Kin khang thanon" which literally means 'eat beside the road'. The street food is just as good as and in many cases better than any restaurant.

Anytime you are within a couple of miles of the Shard you stand a good chance of looking up and unexpectedly seeing that icon of the London skyline staring you in the face. So it was on this occasion. I was sat on these steps minding my own business when I turned to the side and yes, there it was again, that pointy building dominating the scene. It is uncanny really how often that happens. So I liked what I saw and got this.

It was April 8, 2021, and I was standing in a field somewhere just east of unincorporated Paradise, Montana with my heart in my throat. Anytime you plan a big train trip, there's always the few photos you know you really want- the must have list. For me, chasing the day gas and getting this shot along the river was a Top-5 must have, and the top of the list for MRL. As we arrived in Paradise in the morning, the weather wasn't great. Gloomy, cloudy, overcast just kind of BLEH weather, especially for blue locomotives. But if you don't play, you'll never win, and we waited patiently for the day gas to arrive. As they blasted off up the 10th sub, so did we, with the weather just getting better. As we rolled up to this spot, and saw the light, neither photographer said anything to the other- I wasn't going to be the jinx. As they rolled around the corner and into the sunlight, I was totally dialed in, and walked away yelling in excitement as the train went by. I don't do favorites, but if I had to choose for 2021, this is for sure a top-5 grab for me. Happy New Year to you all, and may 2022 bring many more amazing adventures.

I really enjoy shooting with the older cameras. From an artistic point of view , they had a look, difference than today's cameras. I think the Nikon D850 & 750 are representative of what I am talking about and while the Z series of cameras are fantastic, I believe the older DSLR's will be missed when they'r finally gone. Don't forget the Nikon D7000 series also!

From the window a few days ago, I saw what I thought was a large dove having a bath in dove creek. I thought to myself that I have not gotten an image of a dove for a while, perhaps I will sneak out and snap one splashing around.
Nope! Turns out that this Coopers Hawk was the one splashing about. He heard me coming and quickly flew to my backyard neighbors tree. I was clicking from a distance trying to figure out what he was. I could tell by his flight pattern and actions that he was no dove. Now I believed him to be a sharpie (sharp-shinned hawk) but was still not sure so I kept trying to get a clear shot. Cooper was displeased with my actions and went to my side yard neighbors and tried to disguise himself behind the branches. He realized I was not going away anytime soon, so bath time was over and snack time was going to be highly unlikely. Therefore, off he went over the neighbors roof and out of sight.
Sometimes beauty is the beast. I will be on the lookout for him over the next few days because it's fledge season and I believe the little blues should come out of their box any day now. Cooper has not been informed of the yard rules, yet. He doesn't stick around to listen to me. This was my third sighting of him and first opportunity to snap a shot. Nothing personal regarding Cooper, but until he learns the rules, I hope he doesn't visit often.
