7DWF: Anything Goes

These are the tiny connector pins of the battery part of my hand grip for the OM-D, the size of the entire "area" is 1 x 1,5 cm / 0,39 x 0,59 inches, the "largest" pin (the fairly sharp one) is about 2,5 mm / 0,098 inches high. When I bought the OM-D Olympus most conveniently gave the hand grip away for free. While I never use the actual battery part, because it makes the camera too heavy, I use the grip part, because it makes the camera much more comfortable to hold (and that part has the same connector pins). A difficult theme, again, and I felt rather uninspired, but didn't want to skip MM again. Technically not the best photo, I know, but I thought that if I can't come up with anything very original, it should at least be a little flashy; so it was time to use my favourite universal "macro weapon" again, the totally unprofessional star filter ;-)

A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

Warmer temps. today. I wanted to focus on the beautiful trees, especially the greenery. Clarity and contrast.

The danish peoples gift to King Christian the 10. on his 70 years birthday. Price 9 kr. in 1940 and the money went to the kings charityfond.

The theme for Macro Monday this week was Anything Goes, which is a fairly broad remit. This is a very small moth, which I believe is an Endothenia gentianaeana. Moths split into two general categories - macro moths and micro moths. There is no magic to this divide, but it is based loosely on size. Having said that some micro moths are larger than some macro moths. Anyway, this is most definitely a macro of a micro moth.

Our Daily Challenge: "Grain" and "Anything Goes"

I was trying for a film noir feel with this image, but I think I actually ended up with something that looks more like a comic book movie villian...LOL! I don't have a fedora, so I used a straw hat that belongs to my wife, and darkened it in post. (The hat has a big flower attached to the band, but I turned that to the back side :-) It’s an old steak knife that this "villian" is holding.

Except for adding the sparkle on the knife blade, I didn’t do much extra processing on the image beyond basic stuff and converting to mono. I cranked up the ISO and took the shot in a darkened room to get the heavy grain.
