"The welfare of the people has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience"

Quoting Albert Camus, which is quite ironic as one of his best works is The Plague, about a deadly epidemic which forces a city into lockdown. It's a metaphor on French acceptance of Nazi occupation, but he clearly knew what he was talking about medically and I believe would have been pro-vaccination

NB: I don't endorse these anti-vaxxers' views

A couple at an anti-vaxxer protest demonstration outside the Toronto Police headquarters building on College Street. Toronto, Canada. Summer afternoon, 2021. Pentax K1 II.

An anti-vaccine protest outside the Town Hall.

Main point of contention being mandatory vaccination of NHS staff.

There is no point in attempting a dialogue about this flyer. If the person who posted it was reasonable, then it wouldn't have been posted.

"Reasonable" means susceptible to reason. This is not. It is the act of a closed and distorted, ill-informed and unreasonable mind.

Look at all the triggers! See the emotive, motherhood-style, unqualified declarations. They are no better than politicians slogans. Who are the "they" coming for our children? Shadowy bogeymen! Gotta have some of them!! They are straight out of the Department of Home Affairs copybook. Oh, hang on, it's too late. With all the Government big data cross-matching of health, tax, welfare, email, phone number (must be mobile, can't track landline) etcetera they are hooked forever, already.

Look at those big blue eyes, full lips, vulnerable little girl looks. What are they selling anyway? We have names for that, and laws too.

When there was a visible risk of dying or being disabled at a young age by, you know, smallpox, tuberculosis, diphtheria, polio, rubella, measles and their kind, the hope of vaccination was welcomed. Success has drawn a of veil of ignorance over the awareness of imbeciles.

Without disease, hunger, malnutrition and disability made visible the way has been paved for the emergence of antivaxxers, vegetarians, vegans; all colours of distorted fringe dwellers. This is just a manifestation of that fringe.

The Macquarie Dictionary word of the year is strollout. It refers to the slow rate at which the Australian Government acquired and deployed vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the majority has spoken. Almost 93 per cent of all eligible Australians have chosen to be vaccinated against COVID-19. That's a landslide. The recent rise of the delta and omicron variants of the virus should be reason enough, knowing the propensity for genetic variation in viruses as a function of how many are able to reproduce, for everyone to make their best effort to keep everyone else safe. Whether it's isolation, barrier methods like masks, shields and gloves, biological like vaccination or chemical by washing and sanitising, every little bits helps reduce the population of reproducing and thus potentially mutating viruses.

They aren't coming for our children! I almost feel sorry for them. I am sorry I gave them air. Maybe exposing the absurdity of this flyer will make up for that?

Members of the anti-vaxxer protest demonstration that began in front of the Toronto Police headquarters building on College Street and here is moving up Bay Street. Toronto, Canada. Summer afternoon, 2021. Pentax K1 II.

Part of a protest northbound on Yonge Street, here at Bloor Street. Their final destination was probably Queen's Park. Besides anti-maskers, there were anti-vaxxers, QAnon types, anti-Trudeau and anti-Doug Ford protesters. Toronto, Canada. Fall afternoon, 2020. Pentax K1 II.

Part of a protest northbound on Yonge Street, here a bit north of Charles Street. The protesters have brought their own photographers. Some nice cameras there. Their final destination was probably Queen's Park. Besides anti-maskers, there were anti-vaxxers, QAnon types, anti-Trudeau and anti-Doug Ford protesters. Toronto, Canada. Fall afternoon, 2020. Pentax K1 II.

This is a series of images from one of the 'Free in the NT' protest marches in Darwin City. These weekly marches were held weekly to protest the vaccination mandates, mask wearing and a whole host a conspiracy theories and nutter ideas. Although the march included some pretty tragically misguided people, there was a serious element a absolute nutters, trying to find some kind of personal relevance in the world. As you can see from some of the signage - they weren't above opening displaying a wide range of nutty ideas and conspiracies. Ironically they continued to image that more and more of the local community would join them, although, as weeks went by, their numbers, relevance and credibility dropped.

To all anti-vaxxers, this is the altenative to polio vaccination. Yes, Iron lung is obsolete, today there are better methods of artificial respiration, but you're still paralized. /

An alle Impfgegner, das ist die Alternative zur Schluckimpfung. Ja, die eiserne Lunge ist überholt, es gibt heute bessere Methoden zur künstlichen Beatmung, gelähmt bleibt man trotzdem.
