A Northern Crested Caracara takes flight from a cell tower in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly after, two more followed it traveling due east toward the sun. I didn’t see them again for several days until recently they reappeared one or two at a time. There is a large nest in the tower. I don’t know if it’s theirs.

Ever had a tea bag with a tag that vanishes into the mug when you add water? I really ought to patent this solution, which is to park the mug on the tag before beginning to pour.
The next step in the process, a few minutes later, is to hold the mug over the bin when removing the bag, to avoid drips. It was my wife who came up with that idea.

Answer: Satan in John Milton’s Paradise Lost.
"Thence up he flew, and on the tree of life, The middle tree and highest there that grew, Sat like a cormorant; yet not true life."
Milton describes Satan flying to the highest tree to look down on Eden, like a black angel, though Milton didn't use those words. It is probably no coincidence that while composing Paradise Lost, Milton lived across the road from St James’ Park where the King James I had trained Cormorants for catching fish. The King also kept Ospreys and Otters for the same purpose and there was even an office of Master of the Cormorants in the Royal Household.
These are Brandt’s Cormorants, named after the German Johann Friedrich von Brandt (1802-1879), who was Director of the Zoological Museum in St Petersburg. He is also commemorated in Brandt’s Bat (Myotis brandtii). Brandt’s Cormorants are only found on the Pacific coast of North America. These are juveniles but adults have a few white hairs on the back of their heads. This gives rise to the scientific name penicillatus which is literally a pencil of hairs, or an artist’s brush. They were photographed at Zeballos on the west coast of Vancouver Island in beautiful morning light. It was low tide so you can see exposed blue mussels on the rocks.

-If you live in the area you can drop off your sticker packs at the door of Tattooed Mom on South st.
-The show is called CHARACTER WELCOME because because of the high volume of character based graffiti sticker art here in Philadelphia
BUT!!! - any sticker artwork is acceptable. It DOES NOT have to be a character!!!
-Hand drawn, stencils, prints, screen prints- they are all acceptable
-The plan now is to cover the walls of the bar, and also combo wooden panels that after the show will be put up throughout the city.
-2 professional photographers will be at the show, so it will be well documented and you will be able to find photos with your work in them. We are putting a lot of emphasis on the documentation as to not disappoint anyone. Nobody wants to send stickers to a show and not see pictures of their artwork in the combos and stuff.

The Gilles Arms Hotel, 67 Gilles Street, can be seen in the centre of the photograph. Established 1854 and ceased trading in 1975. The building survives. Fortunately the street's drainage has improved!
"UNREGISTERED BARMAID.
Marguerita E. Webber, licencee of the Gilles Arms Hotel, Gilles street, Adelaide, was charged at the Adelaide Police Court, before Mr. E. M. Sabine, P.M., on Monday morning with having allowed an unregistered barmaid to serve liquor on her premises on February 5. Nurse Eva Lynch was charged with having served liquor, being unregistered. Both defendants pleaded guilty. The Police Prosecutor (Detective-Sgt. Allchurch) said that Constable Cain had seen another man served, and had been served himself, by Nurse Lynch. The licencee was ill at the time, and there was no one on the premises to serve liquor. The defendant said she had thought she was only doing the licencee a good turn. The licencee, in answer to the charge, said she had not known that the nurse was serving. The P.M., in finding the defendants respectively £2, with 10/ costs, and £1 10/, with 15/ costs, said he would not endorse, the first defendant's licence regarding the offence."
