The Anglers' Tavern is a bar and bistro located on the banks of the Maribyrnong River in the Melbourne suburb of Maribyrnong, Victoria, Australia.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The view from my home a few years back; a room in the Nurse's Accommodation at Brighton General Hospital, Elm Grove, Brighton, East Sussex. A montage made up from a number of poor quality, somewhat lurid, wide angle mobile phone / camera phone snapshots.

The view overlooks Pankhurst Avenue. Whitehawk Hill TV transmitter can be seen in the distance, and also the sea.

The hospital (but not the Nurse's Accommodation building) was once the Victorian Workhouse for Brighton. The "Undeserving Poor" were locked up, forced to work a 12 hour day and made to wear a distinctive uniform. A work colleague once bought a vintage dress, and was then dismayed to be told by her mother that it was such a uniform.

Cavorting Monarchs

I stole a page out of Leanne Cleaveley's literal Photzy book by taking only my new MeiKe 12mm (18mm equivalent) out for a walk with my granddaughter. Leanne recommends doing this for the discipline of forcing yourself to use only a wide-angle.

I dunno... How'd I do? (The lens is fully manual but as wide as it is it can be successfully put in hyperfocal, unlike my MeiKe 85mm Macro that is positively painful to use outside of a studio on a tripod.)

So I decided to try my hand at one of the contests. This is for the Time Paradox Contest on the Lego Contest network. The title explains it all! Aliens vs. Kingdoms!

The actual box of the figure. Three of the sides show the figure from different angles, in a dark forest scene. The back of the box has a summary of the plot of the movie.

I just received my Maleficent Limited Edition Figure by the Disney Store. She is #37 of 300. She is very beautiful, and is very nicely painted. Her face is a much better likeness to Angelina Jolie than the DS 12'' doll. Her head is also much better proportioned to her body, so looks much more realistic. Their staffs are almost identical in length and design, and I took the trouble of attaching the staff to the dolls hand, so I could mimic the statue's pose with the doll. The figure stands 10'' tall from her feet to the top of her head. So she is about 1 1/2'' shorter than the doll. But their bodies are almost the same size, so they are very comparable.

I went into town this morning for my hair appointment. As usual, it was lovely and sunny when I walked into the hairdresser's, but within half an hour of walking out, it started to rain.

I decided to grab a shot of the cheese grater car park on my way back to my car.
