Brussleton woods in Co Durham

Another dip into last years RAWS that never got processed till now found this shot. The light was warm but quite flat and I think this could benefit from a retake where the path does not go out of view behind that tree... but it's still a nice enough image that can defo be revisited! I think the best shots rarely come from first time visits to a location unless you get very lucky with the conditions and light and you really have time to work the composition. I remember being rushed that night as I had to be back to run dads taxi services... If there is one thing that I find I really struggle with is time pressures... I am probably the slowest photographer in the world as I really like to just soak up a scene first and really work at the minor adjustments.

The Ancient Mariner

This statue was commissioned in 2002 by the Watchet Market House Museum Society.

It was sculpted by Alan B Herriot of Penicuik,Scotland and erected in 2003 as a tribute to Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

This renowned poet resided for some years at the nearby village of Nether Stowey. In 1797, whilst on a walking tour, Coleridge visited Watchet. On seeing the harbour he was inspired to compose one of ht best known poems in English literature,

"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"

There were so many wonderful images to be taken at Deadvlei but this will be my last for awhile. I could not help but love this tree as it shows the the incredible lines and markings of the passing years. Probably hundreds and hundreds of years old the trunk is gnarled but with a beauty that I found truly amazing. It is hard to express ones feelings and the beauty that became so evident with the rising sun. Lighting up the surrounding Dunes with a reddish reflective light that was just awesome. Our world is filled with so many wonderful treasures and truly a privilege to see.

Wishing you an awesome and blessed Saturday !!

Went up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest with some other photographers this weekend. Had a great time. Especially as it was my first time there combined with my first time shooting the Milky Way.

This is just one single exposure with some subtle light painting. Hope everyone likes it.

When I visited this old dolmen at Kilclooney I managed to smash my phonecamera. My brother (he of the quick wit) told me it was the spirits of the dolmen getting their own back on me for disturbing their peace by taking photos.

Before uploading precedent shot I had two candidates, same place, same treatment... I finally decided for that one. But given the broad acceptance it received, I finally have decided to show you the other one. I hope you like it too!
