Tuscan landscape that surrounds an ancient Abbey ..... in that morning softly enveloped by a light fog that filled my heart with sweet melancholy ....

Paesaggio toscano che circonda un' antica Abbazia.... in quella mattina morbidamente avvolto da una leggera nebbia che mi ha riempito il cuore di una dolce malinconia....

In this light fog... everything tell about past days, whose memory moves through time.... in an atmosphere of delicate melancholy...

Only by looking with the eyes of the soul ... you can feel the lightness and weight of melancholy on your heart... living ancient but always new emotions ...

The Parthenon (/ˈpɑːrθəˌnɒn, -nən/; Ancient Greek: Παρθενών; Greek: Παρθενώνας, Parthenónas) is a former temple, on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Construction began in 447 BC when the Athenian Empire was at the peak of its power. It was completed in 438 BC although decoration of the building continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered the zenith of the Doric order. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of Greek art. The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, Athenian democracy and Western civilization, and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. To the Athenians who built it, the Parthenon and other Periclean monuments of the Acropolis, were seen fundamentally as a celebration of Hellenic victory over the Persian invaders and as a thanksgiving to the gods for that victory. The Greek Ministry of Culture is currently carrying out a program of selective restoration and reconstruction to ensure the stability of the partially ruined structure. Interior monochrome view of church ruins with dynamic clouds at Dwynwen’s Church, Llanddwyn Island, Wales.

This was the last glimpse back over the landscape hiked on the last Saturday, on the ancient Valeriana road that runs alongside Lake Iseo and up to the mountains, and to be completed in several stages.

Cold, sun then clouds, and many beauty.

Freddo, sole poi nuvole, e tanta bellezza.

Holy Crap!!!!

Notifications are working in Flickr again. At least on my end. I haven't had one in almost two years. I sure did miss hearing that sound that lets me know that the community is still there. Not sure if my email to Flickr bitching about it had anything to do with it. They can never survive unless they promote engagement amongst the members. I may buy a Pro membership even though in the seven years i've been on flickr they only replied once to my emails. Hope SmugMug does a better job with customer support.

Has anybody else stopped receiving notifications?

We had such a great group of people for this workshop and Wayne provided some excellent instruction. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!!!

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, I am always thankful for your views, comments, faves, and support, they are greatly appreciated!! Have a great day my friends!! :)

Side (Σίδη) (meaning pomegranate) is located in the region of Pamphylia in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) and was both a prosperous Aegean trading centre in Hellenistic and Roman times and a base for Cilician pirates in the 1st and 2nd centuries BCE.

One of the first things you notice on arrival at the site is that modern Side is a tourist town. However, it is also one of the best preserved classical sites in Turkey. The ancient city of Side is found on a small peninsula measuring about 1 km by 400 m.

The 300 year old "Ancient Oak" at Dade Battlefield Historic State Park. "The Seminole resistance to removal to a reservation brought about the Second Seminole War. It started on December 28, 1835, when a column of 107 soldiers, led by Major Dade, were attacked by the Seminole warriors. 'Have a good heart; our difficulties and dangers are over now, and as soon as we arrive at Fort King (present day Ocala) you'll have three days to rest and keep Christmas gaily.' Major Francis L. Dade spoke these words of encouragement to 107 cold, tired soldiers in a pine forest on the morning of December 28, 1835. Within eight hours, only three soldiers would survive the battle that marked the beginning of the Second Seminole War." This tree was already more than 100 years old at the time of the battle, about 185 years ago. If this tree could talk.
