Katie is blocking the view of a solar calendar meant to display the equinox sunrise on the back of the cave that I am in.

More like fanclub moss, amirite? Okay, I just posted this picture to make that (awful) joke.

I saw a few of these strange red mite-looking bugs. I wonder what they were! Are they poisonous?

The color of the fall leaves has reached an incredible peak today. Hardwoods are showing tremendously saturated yellows, oranges, reds and browns under clear blue skies.

Hiking through Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia, this truck was "parked" in the trees. I'm guessing it's left over from some insurance 'claim' from years ago...but gave some good rust to shoot.

Note: I replaced this photo Saturday morning with one saved as sRGB. The saturation in the truck colors was lost on upload with the Adobe RGB color profile.

Better On Black

During our 5 mile New Years hike at Amicalola State Park!

We stayed overnight here: hike-inn.com

....and as you can see, it started to rain on our hike back.

So the falls weren't seriously iced up, but there was a good bit of ice where there was spray or splashing water. It was still worth the trip.

This is right by the start of the Appalachian Trail.
