The sunrises are so pretty there that there's even a special viewing room for cold days.

Is it just me, or is this moth trying to look like a few smears of bird dropping on bark?

These funny-looking sphinx moths were some of the most common, though I saw perhaps a dozen different species.

Is this perhaps a Lettered Sphinx Moth, Deidamia inscriptum?

Springer Mountain is the southern terminus of the trail which runs to Mt. Katahdin, Maine

"Happy Halloween 2016"

Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I thought this was the perfect photo to post for Halloween. This photo was taken at the Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge a few years ago when my husband and I went hiking.

I love the scarecrow sitting against the pumpkin.

Happy Halloween!

Gwen, Katie and I played Scrabble Wednesday night. Katie won, which pleased her quite a bit.

Amicalola Falls State Park; Dawsonville, GA

Amicalola Falls is on Little Amicalola Creek in Dawson County. At 729 feet, it's the tallest cascade (waterfall) east of the Mississippi. Amicalola means "tumbling water" in Cherokee.

This is one of Georgia's most popular state parks. This shot was taken along the Appalachian Approach Trail. The park contains a check station for hikers on the Appalachian Trail.

Amicalola, a Cherokee Indian word meaning “tumbling waters,” is an appropriate name for the 729-foot falls, the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River.

Eh, always have to get a pic of someone on a step. He wasn't quite dressed for a photoshoot, but he did well anyway =)

Nearby, a plaque marked the beginning (or the end) of the Appalacian Trail.

Amicalola Falls is located in Amicalola Falls State Park in Northern Georgia.

These huge mushrooms are about 6 inches (15cm) in height.
