The Pfühlpark is the oldest park in Heilbronn, if you include its origins as a large-scale garden around the Wasserschlößchen on the Trappensee. The origins go back to the year 1575, when the foundation stone for the Trappenseeschlößchen was laid by the mayor Philipp Orth. The castle is located on a small island in the middle of the Trappensee. It was named after Johann Berhard Trapp, who acquired the site in 1653. The Pfühlpark was created as a result of an ideas competition for the horticultural exhibition in 1934, 500 meters west of the Trappensee.

Rare for Nebraska in November that is....

There was some risk of severe weather that afternoon. In fact.... way out of season severe weather. There was just enough instability by afternoon to allow the thunderstorms to develop, strengthen, and even spin up a few tornadoes in the 4-5 p.m. CST time frame.

I had a 5 hour drive back from Missouri and was exhausted. Plus I had to work in a few hours so chasing this storm was just not possible that afternoon. But I did venture out to capture a few snaps of that afternoons events.

Pictured here were the cells effecting the Red Cloud to Clay Center Nebraska areas. I was just to the south of the I-80 Minden Interchange. Found a cozy spot without any powerlines and pointed my camera to the east southeast.

Here's another view of the stack at Davenport Beach from the #santacruz2012 photowalk. I chose the title "the sentinel" for two reasons. First, the rock formation ("the stack") is solitary but ever-present, almost keeping watch on the ocean beyond. Second, there's one solitary seagull sitting on top of the stack keeping an eye on the beach (which at this point had about 30 photographer on it).

Last week, I made a huge scary step and left my job to pursue photography as my full time career. I'm terrified, thrilled and excited all at the same time and it's given me the biggest boost of inspiration I could have ever imagined, for which I am eternally grateful.

A notable scenic lake vista within the Superior National Forest of Minnesota

The city is located in the natural area of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains, above the Sulmtal on the edge of the Löwenstein Mountains named after it at an altitude of 220 to 549 meters. The Breitenau lake, which was artificially created in the 1970s, is located partly on the municipality.

Daraus machen sie Humus, also nährstoffreiche Erde.

The cleaning crew of the forest

Fungi feed by decomposing dead plants and animals. Their skills are particularly important in the forest. Because only mushrooms can break down certain components of wood.

In this way, they clean the forest of dead wood and dead organisms. They use this to make humus. Without this, no new plants could grow in the forest.

The names refer to the color of the leaves of the deciduous forests that begin in the autumn months. When the sun is yellow-red, especially at sunrise or sunset, a golden hue can be seen. The word golden also expresses that such a sight is perceived as beautiful by many people.

Im Nebel ruhet noch die Welt,

noch träumen Wald und Wiesen;

bald siehst du, wenn der Schleier fällt,

den blauen Himmel unverstellt,

herbstkräftig die gedämpfte Welt

in warmem Golde fließen.
