Winter weather in spring season

Heilbronn-Neckarbogen - Stadt am Fluss

A male Dianna Fritillary butterfly resting, soaking up warm sunshine. An amazing capture here in my region due to the extirpation of this wonderful butter's habitat. The Dianna's home range is to the north, in the Ozark mountains and to the east in the Appalachias. This find made the Lep registry for Oklahoma due to it's "watch list" status and it has never been reported in my county. I never tire of watching it and I am always hopeful to see a female.

I went and visited the local osprey nest at the Dutch Gap Conservation Area on Saturday. It was a beautiful day...I could sit and watch these birds for hours! I can't wait to see chicks!

The highest elevation of the Löwenstein Mountains is the wooded Raitelberg west of Wüstenrot at 561.1 m, and a little north of this "mountain" is the Stangenberg, which is just as high at 561.1 m. The also wooded Horkenberg between Löwenstein and Wüstenrot is quite high at 549.4 m. The Stocksberg (539.7 m), which belongs to Beilstein and Löwenstein, as well as the Juxkopf (533.2 m) near Spiegelberg with the Juxkopfturm offer a wide view. To the west lies the 372.8 m high Schweinsberg in the Heilbronn forest area belonging to Heilbronn; on this stand the Schweinsberg tower, the Heilbronn telecommunications tower and the Schweinsberg elevated reservoir for the Lake Constance water supply.

In the south, already in the transition area to the Mainhardt Forest, wooded Black Jura peaks between Lauter- and Fischbachtal reach heights of up to 566.6 m (Steinberg south of Wüstenrot).

Rare for Nebraska in November that is....

There was some risk of severe weather that afternoon. In fact.... way out of season severe weather. There was just enough instability by afternoon to allow the thunderstorms to develop, strengthen, and even spin up a few tornadoes in the 4-5 p.m. CST time frame.

I had a 5 hour drive back from Missouri and was exhausted. Plus I had to work in a few hours so chasing this storm was just not possible that afternoon. But I did venture out to capture a few snaps of that afternoons events.

Pictured here were the cells effecting the Red Cloud to Clay Center Nebraska areas. I was just to the south of the I-80 Minden Interchange. Found a cozy spot without any powerlines and pointed my camera to the east southeast.

The term frost (German. Derivation of freeze) describes the occurrence of temperatures below 0 ° C (freezing point of water), especially in the environment, which mainly affects living beings, water and soil. The permafrost of winter leads to the hibernation of nature.

The Gelbinger Vorstadt was the second large-scale urban expansion of the city of Schwäbisch Hall in the 14th century. The Gelbinger suburb was not walled until the middle of the 14th century. On June 3, 1680, a lightning strike triggered a major fire in Gelbinger Gasse, which killed around 100 buildings. The Gelbinger Gasse remained unscathed by the great fire of 1728. This suburb is located in front of the old Gelbinger Tor in the old town and stretches along the old country road down the valley on a land platform at a distance of no more than 200, often a few meters, to the right of the Kocherufer. It ends in the north at the Äußere Gelbinger Tor, which was removed in 1807.

The church is considered to be the oldest building in Bad Friedrichshall-Kochendorf and, according to architectural findings, was probably built before 1100. The originally walled fortified church was first mentioned in 1294 when the patronage rights were sold to the Wimpfen monastery. The church below the Greckenschloss was the burial place of the Kochendorfer local nobility.

Kochendorf was reformed in 1549 by Wolf Conrad I. Greck. The local lord was probably influenced by the Reformation through his marriage to Sibylla von Gemmingen. Even after the Reformation, the right of patronage remained with the Catholic Wimpfen Monastery, which in 1595 rebuilt the nave with an extension. There used to be a cemetery around the church, but the expansion has created a new cemetery southwest of the village. The church tower, damaged by lightning in 1655, was repaired in 1661.

I'd say that's a pretty amazing thing to call this a wetlands reserve. This year it's wishful thinking.

Baby bird update: Father is with his three young cardinals and all are doing fine! Amazing the responsible nature of birds. Wouldn't it be great if humans were more like the birds? Still no mother in sight so she's obviously gone.

The old town hall from the 16th century was partially destroyed in the fire of 1743, in 1744 it was rebuilt in its current form with an additional floor, a mansard roof and bell tower. The ground floor with the beautiful half-timbering that was exposed in 1926 dates back to the 16th century. Above the entrance doors on the gable side are the coats of arms of the town of Neuenstein and the Hohenlohe rule.

In 1509, Emperor Maximilian I gave the city of Neuenstein the coat of arms of the noble family, the Lords of Neuenstein, which died out in the 16th century. The inscription above the right door indicates renovation work in the entrance area from 1782 and the mayor of that time.
