The Nebraska National Guard’s work in the U.S. Virgin Islands continued this week as the 56 Soldiers and 2 Airmen from the Nebraska National Guard’s 67th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade began to assume responsibilities for the Guardsmen from 31 different states currently supporting the Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria relief and recovery operations on St. Croix and St. Thomas.
On Oct. 19, members of the 67th MEB traveled to St. Thomas where they met with Soldiers from the Kentucky National Guard’s Military Police Company and toured their housing area. The visit was eye-opening as the Nebraskans also witnessed the storm damage on the island, including the mass destruction of electrical power poles that has continued to cause problems for the islanders.
