I did it!!! Fantastic!!! From the first time!!! I took an old, expired, color film Kodacolor-X 80 47-year-old (1976) format- 620 and developed it myself! I was shooting with an old French Kodak Brownie camera from the 1950s, also in 620 format. Taking into account the age of the film, I set it not to 80 iso, but to 5-10 iso. To be honest, I didn't think that something would work out, I was photographing without a tripod at high exposures, so I was shooting all sorts of nonsense. Kodacolor-X color film can no longer be developed according to the now defunct C-22 process. Therefore, I developed it in the developer D-19 in the form of a black-and-white film. The manifestation time I received is 6 minutes. Then we wash it in water and fix it. The dense substrate (real celluloid) has a bright brown-orange hue, but the film was scanned quite normally with a blue tint. I had to adjust the color in the photo editor. But then I decided to go even further. I cut the negative into 3 parts and put it in bleach. I had bleach only with potassium bichromate. Maybe I should have used a different bleach. As a result, after bleaching and re-developing in D-19, it turned out that in the last photo (you can see it at the link below). The substrate is almost transparent (you can compare - there was no dark piece in the bleach), the images have been preserved, but it seems to me that they have become less sharp (although initially they were not sharp at all due to the fact that I photographed without a tripod). Anyway, it was a fantastic experience for me!

This is the artist statement behind Calvary by Father Murphy. Not music as such, but a short piece of sound art - a musique concrete tone poem figuratively depicting the execution place of Dismas, Gestas and Jesus of Nazareth.
The tone poem is collaged from the sounds of wood being cut up and built into a cross, with percussion sounds recorded at the Holy Friday Procession in Ceske Budejovice, Czechoslovakia, and the banging of metal constructs in a children’s park in Stockholm.
The vocals and other audio elements were recorded variously in a backyard in Brooklyn, a mansion in Joshua Tree, a cave in San Francisco, and on the Pyramid of The Moon in Teotihuacan, Mexico. Calvary features a guest appearance by Ezra Buchla on viola (formerly of Gowns and heir to the Buchla synth dynasty).
Father Murphy have toured and collaborated with the likes of Xiu Xiu and Swans. Their previous release - Pain Is On Our Side Now - challenged the listener to engage creatively with the sound they are experiencing, by presenting the audio across four sides of vinyl, any two of which are required to be played simultaneously.
The duo’s own description of their sound is “Father Murphy is the sound of the Catholic sense of Guilt. A downward spiral aiming at the bottom of the hollow, and then digging even deeper.”
