Soviet guests at a post Queen's Birthday Parade reception at London Block in the Olympic Stadium Headquarters complex. The Soviet officer is Lieutenant Colonel Alimpiev, accompanied by his wife (to the right). He was the commander of Soviet Checkpoint Alpha at Marienborn on the Inner German Border. Prior to the Berlin Wall coming down, permission was never granted by the Soviet authorities to checkpoint commanders to attend functions in West Berlin.

A quick look, with a streamer and shock cord inside, shows the modified Super Alpha to be stable with an F15-8 loaded. And, without added nose weight. Apogee 2688', optimal delay 8.35s, but with no wind. Still cool...and lucky.
