The western sky around an hour after sunset this evening had featured an eye-catching sight: the moon, Jupiter and Venus were aligned in almost a straight line! This was really the continuation of the 'triple conjunction' of the 3 heavenly bodies which had started just a few days earlier. Next to Venus, Jupiter is the brightest star-like object in the evening sky and among the first to come out each night at dusk. The real drama, however, was only getting underway. In the upcoming nights, Venus and Jupiter would slowly get closer to each other. Then by June 30, 2015, Jupiter and Venus was to appear very close together by just one-third of a degree! That's closer together than the apparent width of the moon! Fingers crossed for clear skies that evening!
