The first non-robot to be built by Peter Kokis of Brooklyn RobotWorks, Brooklyn Alien is made from ordinary items purchased from local stores, including plungers, knife sharpeners, wine glass drain mats, bottlecaps, and plastic tubing. He took 450 hours to build and weighs 122 lbs. This is an exoskeletal costume, and nothing else like him exists anywhere.

This is the Alien Queen as designed by Kenner. It's... not movie-accurate at all, but for the time it came out, it was an AWESOME toy, with very few things like it on the market. Those inner jaws actually worked, too! Kenner would later produce a movie-accurate queen, but this strange monster will always be near and dear to my heart.

It's not just about laying eggs, she is practially a tyrannosaurus rex.

We've got a hive full of chibi Aliens!

The components of the Aliens scene.

Alien Xenomorph Queen cosplay costume

Although Alien 3 really codified the "Aliens differ with each host" aspect of the franchise, Kenner's toy line really went to town with it, showing off Gorilla aliens, Bull aliens, and the like. What spawned this winged queen? or is she a natural evolution?

This is seriously one of the coolest toys EVER!

A big thank you to all the cosplayers who were kind enough to pose for me, not least for your patience while I was fiddling around with camera settings! I hope you like the results.

Sculpt progress on The Queen - ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale.

Plastic casting test on the head/jaw build. Rough test, nothing cleaned up or painted.

I used Smooth-On Smooth Cast 320. I do plan in casting the teeth in a transparent plastic eventually.

I've been molding and casting several pieces to my build over the past week or so and have taken some shots of the successes. Surprisingly everything turned out great for the exception of the Alien Warrior mold which I had to redo. More on that one later.

Here is a plastic casing of the four components to create the Alien Queen head and jaw. This is one of several variants that will be made to "plug and play" into the Queen's carapace.

I put one together using some of the initial pulls to get an idea how it will all work. Happy with the results. Next step will be moving onto the neck and variant head sculpts.

Comments/questions welcome! Hope you enjoy! More to come soon!

Sculpt progress on the Newborn. Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale.

With the sculpt of the ALIENS(86) Queen in progress, I thought it would be fun to match her up with her future offspring thanks to Ripley 8 (going to have to be a fan to know what I'm talking about) and get a look at the scale. Once the lower jaw of the Queen is complete I will get a better idea but so far I think both scale pretty well with one another and enhances my hopes to one day have a Resurrection diorama featuring the "Birth of the Newborn". Till then, both stands on their own and both have a ton of work to have down before that road is crossed.

This update focuses in on the Newborn and it's open mouth variant I'm working on. My previous update featured the jaw wired into place. This week I'm sculpting in the gaps and detailing the optional tongue that will be held by a magnet.

From some of the early production images, the tongue appeared to have "buds" over its surface...possibly glads for smell and taste. A trait from Ripley's side of the family for sure. So I'm taking a blank tongue I formed using Aves FIXIT sculpt and detailing it with small portions of additional FIXIT forming the buds. The entire surface isn't covered in these glads so I need to pay attention as to not overdo the surface with these things LOL!

I know the Newborn doesn't get a ton of love from the Alien community but I must admit, it's been one of my more enjoyable projects over the past year or so...and I think it's because of the fusion between the human and the xenomorph. You get to work with a little of both when sculpting this guy....at least I don't have to sculpt a TAIL! LOL! That Queen though...the tail will be a major project in itself.

Hope you enjoyed the update. Any questions, let me know. Everything you see has been hand sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt - a two-part epoxy that can be found here

Sculpt update on the Alien Queen - ALIENS - 1:18 scale.

Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio.

I'm close to completing the mouth of the Alien Queen - finished sculpting the lower gum line around the teeth of the lower jaw. Also started to flesh out the lower jaw a bit but have much more detailing to add before it's considered complete.

Both the top and lower set of teeth have been sculpted separate and will be cast eventually using a semi-clear resin..or crystal clear, and painted afterward.

This coming week I want to complete the teeth and lower jaw and set up the components to the head for molding and casting. From there we go to the neck as well as the Queen's inner jaw.

More to come! Thanks for taking a look! #alien #aliens #alienqueen #egglayer #yourhighness #xenomorph #customactionfigure #art #sculpture #giger studioADI #studioadi

A guided walking tour of Vieux Lyon. The tour would take around an hour.

The Vieux Lyon (English: Old Lyon) is the largest Renaissance district of Lyon in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon.

This zone is served by the metro line D

In 1954, Vieux-Lyon, the city's oldest district, became the first site in France to be protected under the Malraux law to protect France's cultural sites. Covering an area of 424 hectares at the foot of the Fourvière hill, it is one of Europe’s most extensive Renaissance neighborhoods. There are three distinct sections: Saint Jean, Saint Paul and Saint Georges.

The Saint Jean quarter: in the Middle Ages, this was the focus of political and religious power. The Cathedral of St Jean, seat of the Primate of Gaul, a title still conferred upon the archbishop of Lyon, is a good example of Gothic architecture. The Manecanterie adjoining the cathedral is one of Lyon's few extant Romanesque buildings. Formerly a choir school, it now houses the museum of the cathedral’s treasures. Saint Jean is also home to the Museum of Miniatures and Film Sets, located in a building that was the Golden Cross Inn in the 15th century.

The Saint-Paul section: in the 15th and 16th centuries predominately Italian banker-merchants moved into sumptuous urban residences here called hôtels particuliers. The Hôtel Bullioud and the Hôtel de Gadagne are two magnificent examples and the latter now houses the Lyon Historical Museum and the International Puppet Museum. The Loge du Change stands as testimony to the period when trade fairs made the city wealthy. The Saint Paul church with its Romanesque lantern tower and its spectacular spire mark the section’s northern extremity.

The Saint Georges section: silk weavers settled here beginning in the 16th century before moving to the Croix Rousse hill in the 19th century. In 1844, the architect Pierre Bossan rebuilt the St George's Church on the banks of the SaĂ´nein a neo-Gothic style. In the Middle Ages, when there were only a few parallel streets between the hill and the SaĂ´ne, the first traboules were built. Derived from the Latin trans-ambulare, meaning to pass through, traboules are corridors through buildings and their courtyards, connecting one street directly with another. Visitors can discover an architectural heritage of galleries and spiral staircases in these secret passageways, as unexpected as they are unique.

Rue de la Bombarde. At the square near the back of the Musee Miniature et Cinema called Place de la Basoche.

It is the location of the Maison des Avocats law offices.

Two museums in one!

Founded by the miniaturist Dan Ohlmann, the Musée Miniature et Cinéma presents exclusively in Lyon two rare and unusual collections:

On the other hand a unique exhibition in Europe allowing to understand all the techniques of the special effects of the cinema . This educational journey, illustrated by more than 400 original pieces of shooting, reveals the magic of the biggest movie studios.

A living place:

Artists work daily in their workshop to create miniatures and restore authentic cinema objects. They have just restored for the happiness of all the fantastic Queen Alien of the ADI studios that throne to this day in her cage on the 2nd floor of the museum.

Information related to the collections is presented in French and in English.
