Some shots of the (authentic) Alien Queen maquette. I am a *HUGE* fan of the Alien series; this was incredibly cool to see in person.
The Queen is huge -- over 9 feet tall -- and the display at the museum is rigged with animatronics. It is in constant motion, roaring and clawing at the visitors. It's also quite beautifully staged and lit.
Also very difficult to photograph -- dim, flickering light and constant movement make for some tough exposure conditions!
In every hive, the Queen is the largest and most intelligent female. She is usually the mother of every Drone and Warrior in the hive, since she is the only one to lay eggs
