Stayed on the beach on the Palm Coast in Florida for a couple days. Its winter time, so the weather was mostly cold and cloudy, however a huge improvement from the 10 degree weather at home in Colorado!

Thermophilic algae (green) living along side a mineral deposit (white) in runoff from Whirligig Geyser in Yellowstone National Park. This water ranges from 100-133°F (38-56°C).
Every time these young ducks put their face in the water, they come up with algae hanging from their beaks
A month ago, this pond hosted two duck families, a turtle, a heron, and lots of fish. Families loved to come down and feed the animals. This is what the pond looks like today. I complained to the management company. They told me they sent someone down who said the pond was fine. Does this look fine to you?
Algae are a component of lichen. This find at Auckengill Harbour in Caithness seemed to suggest a landscape steeped in blood (at the time I was working on Macbeth).
Very beautiful, on a bucket of water in my greenhouse.
See an amazing video of this stuff at 1000x magnification here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md0PtdRxXvw
There is another shot of a different part of the bucket here www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2434752
About Cenote Ponderosa
Ponderosa is a very large open cenote with crystal clear water and lots of life hiding among the large blocks of collapsed algae covered limestone. Look out for the Sail fin Mollies, Cichlids, freshwater Eels and Turtles. You will also see plenty of bird life in and around the cenote including Motmots, Cormorants, and Grebes. If you are lucky you may get to see the Grebes diving and chasing the brightly colored shoals of fish underwater.
Ponderosa is a very popular site for snorkeling as well as Cavern and Cave Diving. It is also a popular training site.
I did my first Scuba diving training here.
Starting a new day finishing this long term project - finally beads are fired, pit fired, some of them glazed and finished with gold lustre. Pine twig found and clasp is made. Here it is - Algae embrace.
