The C-5 Galaxy is a long-range cargo aircraft and is among the largest military aircraft in the world. The C-5 in the photograph was ordered in 1969 and built by Lockheed Aircraft. It was delivered to the U. S. Air Force in 1971. The aircraft was retired in 2013. In 2015 the aircraft was on static display at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base.
This Kaydet wears the fictitious serial 121741. In fact, this artifact is a composite of several old planes. Nice reconstruction; another example is being built, literally from scratch, at the Historic Aircraft Restoration Project, Brooklyn, NY.
The C-131D Samaritan was manufactured by Convair. The aircraft in the photograph was in civilian service before going to the U. S. Air Force in 1954. Sometimes after 1983 the aircraft went back to civilian ownership. In 2015, the aircraft was on static display the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base.
This VC-9C, serial number 73-1682, transported America’s top leadership from 1975 until 2011. Much of that time it served as Air Force Two for Vice Presidents Walter Mondale, George H.W. Bush, Dan Quayle, Al Gore and Dick Cheney.
It also served several of America’s First Ladies—Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Hillary R. Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama.
When this aircraft was needed to transport presidents into smaller airports—Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush—it served as Air Force One.
It also transported visiting world leaders such as Queen Elizabeth II and the Chief of Staff of the People’s Republic of China.
This beautifully restored example of the Vultee Valiant can be admired at the Air Mobility Command Museum, Dover, DE.
About halfway up to the cabin door, this view of the nose presents itself. The missile drop logo is clearly visible here. The Galaxy makes the very large Boeing KC-97 in front look like a toy.

I was surprised to see this aviation artifact aboard the Air Mobility Command Museum's VC-9C. The complete "Sacred Cow" is on display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, Dayton, OH.
What a thrill to finally step inside this magnificent aircraft! I first saw her when she was atop a restaurant in Penndel, PA, some 30 years ago. The AMC Museum has done a magnificent job restoring this rare former airline Connie.
