McDonnell Douglas VC-9C, 73-1682
73-1682 was one of three VC-9C aircraft purchased for use by the President, Vice President, their families and other senior US government officials. In some cases it was used when the destination airport could not accommodate the larger VC-137 (707) or later VC-25 (747) aircraft.

One of four Thunderbirds during their private performance for the families at the Dover Air Force Base, Dover, DE.
This was photographed from the Air Mobility Command Museum, on the southern side of the base. I attended the public air show on Saturday, the following day, and posted some of those images. It was an excellent show.
This photograph was taken from the Air Mobility Command Musuem during the private air show for the families at the Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. The two jumpers separated shortly after this to prepare for landing.
This aircraft is impressive in every way. Inside, she's truly a time capsule. As huge as it is, the fuselage was able to fit in the belly of a C-5 Galaxy for her final "flight" to the Air Mobility Command Museum.
Lockheed C-5A Galaxy, 69-0014, c/n 500-0045
According to Joe Baugher's serial number database, this Galaxy was delivered to the USAF in 1971 and it made its l last flight in 2013.*
In 1974, this C-5A successfully air-dropped and launched an LGM-30 Minuteman ICBM in the Air Mobile Feasibility Demonstration. However, such deployment of Minuteman missiles from airlifters was never adopted.
